To think this is a rather despicable thing to do?

Someone stole the strap off my 5yo's Trunki. We put it in the luggage area on the Eurostar. Strap def attached. Came to take it off at the other end. No strap.i saw someone carrying a trunk of the same (unusual) colour out of the carriage before we went to get our bags and suspect t it was them. DS was v upset. It's a small issue in the scheme of things but I think unclipping and stealing something that clearly belongs to a child is pretty low behaviour. If you are reading this and you stole an orange strap from a child's Trunki on Sunday then you upset a small boy on his first holiday abroad and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Don't you think it's more likely it got ripped off during the baggage handling process (I've been airside in the baggage area and it is vicious!)

VanitasVanitatum · 04/09/2014 14:26

Eurostar is a train forago the luggage doesn't get handled.

nomdemere · 04/09/2014 14:26

No. It was on a train not Ã…land. No handling require.

I have just looked up what a Trunki is. Those are so adorable! I want one!

Yeah, are you sure it was deliberate? It could have been roughly tossed around by someone and the strap ripped off. Baggage handlers have taken an oath to ruin, toss, and destroy every piece of luggage that comes into their hands.

Bulbasaur · 04/09/2014 14:30

Whoops!

Let's try again.

"Yeah, are you sure it was deliberate? It could have been roughly tossed around by someone and the strap ripped off."

nomdemere · 04/09/2014 14:34

Trunki itself had t been moved - still sandwiched between our other bags. Strap gone. Not accidental.

hadn't ! Bloody phone

We had a Beetle (car) once. Same bloody thing! People would nick bits off it.

I'm sure the good people of Trunki will send a replacement. Karma will do the rest.

Fluffyears · 04/09/2014 22:01

My case strap is missing, think it will still be in palma airport. Beg it came off case and was put on conveyor belt itself after I had picked up bags. As soon as they gone through I go. Replacement will cost me £12 (it was a particular style). Any way of getting a replacement?

fairylightsintheloft · 04/09/2014 22:24

They are clipped on with very strong clips - unlikely it was accidental. Sad for your DS. My 2 love their trunkis.

TheGirlWhoPlayedWithFire · 04/09/2014 22:28

Trunki's are fab, and its very unlikely the strap came off of its own accord.

It is a rubbish thing to do but I bet trunki will be happy to assist you.

Surely the other trunki would have come with a strap too though?

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 04/09/2014 22:28

The clips are strong enough to pull a child around while sitting on the trunki so I think it would take quite some force to accidentally rip them off.

I would suspect it was deliberate and yes it's a shitty thing to do to a child.

steff13 · 04/09/2014 22:29

The clips are hard to get off, I would wager someone took it on purpose. My daughter has a Trunki, she loves it. Write to the Trunki company and tell them what happened; they might send a replacement.

nomdemere · 05/09/2014 06:48

Yes will contact Trunki when I get home. Just such a petty nasty thing to do

Replacement straps are available here , although orange doesn't appear to be available.

nomdemere · 05/09/2014 10:38

I suspect that is why the person took it - they had the same Trunki as us which I have never seen before. It was a limited edition Trunki that we won in a competition - only a small number made. I think they must have lost their strap and saw it as an opportunity to get a replacement not available elsewhere. Really shoddy to do it by stealing from a child.

randycheeseburger · 05/09/2014 11:02

Im sure karma will bite them on the arse x

kinkyfuckery · 05/09/2014 11:10

If the strap was unlikely to have come off itself, how did the proposed 'thief' lose theirs in the first place?

Hellokittycat · 05/09/2014 11:39

We've got the ornate one too. Is it a moshi monster one? One of our straps (the small handles) broke on our holiday a few weeks ago. I emailed trunki and they were fab, sent new straps free of charge

SistersOfPercy · 05/09/2014 11:43

How bloody horrible. Trunki CS is very good though so you might get lucky.

I have a Trunki.....I'm 40 Blush It's a Gruffalo one and I use it for toiletries when I go on holiday (in the UK in our car obviously, I don't pull it through Manchester Airport or anything)

SistersOfPercy · 05/09/2014 11:46

kinky most likely their child unclipped it and lost it.

FavaBeanPyramidScheme · 05/09/2014 12:22

That is horrible OP. I'm so sorry this happened to your DS. People are a mystery to me sometimes. What a low thing to do. I think I would actually report it as theft - particularly given the limited edition nature of it.

Stratter5 · 05/09/2014 12:48

Sisters, LittleDog has the Gruffalo one for when we go away. I'm going to get Bridgey the pink Moshi one Blush

SistersOfPercy · 05/09/2014 12:56

Go for it Stratter! JTF warehouse had Gruffalo in for £20 and I really couldn't resist it. (They still have them if anyone is looking for one)

DD did ride it through our hall but at 16 it perhaps didn't work as well as it would with a toddler Blush
