We do our weekly shop together, I managed to do the shopping separator game once before he got wise and now puts the separator thing on the belt before I can get to it, and if I do manage to get to it before he does he just turns it back the wrong right way :(

For those that aren't aware, the game goes like this-
Put your shopping on the belt and put the separator like this-> shopping -- shopping.
Instead of like this-> shopping | shopping
And watch the face(s) of the person/people behind you as they give you weird looks.

I should LTB shouldn't I?

Goldmandra, I've explained ^^. I'm going to leave it there now.

TheCunnyFunt · 04/09/2014 17:49

Shock No-ones nose has ever been near my arse thank you very much! Well, no female noses anyway Wink

AmazingBouncingFerret · 04/09/2014 17:54

Well this has turned out to be fun.

Hurr1cane · 04/09/2014 17:54

Nah chaos. What you said wasn't that bad, I'm not easily shocked to be honest, or easily offended.

The other thing that was said floored me to be honest.

Hurr1cane · 04/09/2014 17:55

And I quite like your game chaos Smile

AmazingBouncingFerret · 04/09/2014 17:59

I like the game, last time I did it, the bloke behind me looked incredibly nervous, hovered his hand over the divider like he couldn't decide whether he dared move it, snatched his hand away and then finally built up the courage to move it. All the while I was silently crying with laughter.

You know what they say... small things etc etc.

MarryBerrysBum · 04/09/2014 18:02

Ooh Ooh, is this the equivalent of the Mason's secret handshake for mumsnetters? Next time I see someone in a naice scarf at the supermarket I am so doing this...

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 04/09/2014 18:02

Pfft. You're such a lickarse amazing. How could it be funny causing someone such anguish at a checkout.

DiaDuit · 04/09/2014 18:10

I'd think that you were very special indeed and probably medicated for it.

Lying this comment really does seem to imply you are referring to a disability or mental health condition.

Surely you can see why people have assumed that's what you meant?

Zucker · 04/09/2014 18:23

LTB, call 101 do what ever you need to get away from this kill joy Grin

I do it in my local M&S so and one young guy who serves on the till there gives me a raised eyebrow and a knowing look every time. It's the small things that make food shopping bearable!

Catsmamma · 04/09/2014 18:33

gawd last time this came up there were some very po-faced outraged Mnters...accusing all us participating of being too zany and whacky for our own good.

I often do it, and dh WITHOUT fail will put it back....

I also find it keeps those who have nfi about personal space just that bit further back as they crick their necks to try and read your pin as you pay with a card. rude fuckers

I do only do it on long conveyors though....it's rude on a short one. I do still claim my space though to keep the nosey pin spys at bay

It is harmless fun.

Goldmandra · 04/09/2014 18:34

I would think they've possibly been drinking or taking some kind of substance if I noticed them.

Not buying that, sorry.

probably medicated for it doesn't mean behaving that way as a result of drugs or alcohol and it does not mean medicated for being a drug user or drunk. It is very clear what you meant.

Being mildly irritated by a thread about a bit of a prank that you don't 'get' isn't really an excuse for being that offensive. Why not just apologise and move on?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 04/09/2014 18:34

DiaDuit... Well no, I didn't think that it would mean anything of the kind. I've explained. It wasn't my intention to offend anybody; my post had nothing whatsoever to do with disability or mental health conditions.

I checked back to see if anybody else had posted that they were offended. So, apologies if anybody was caught up in what was obviously an offensive post; it really wasn't intended that way.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 04/09/2014 18:37

Goldmandra... Whether you 'buy it' or not, I'm not answerable to you. That is what I would think because it's an odd and intrusive thing to do. I know what I meant, please don't presume to know what is in my thoughts.

I have apologised and I am now leaving the thread because there's nothing to be gained from posting on it.

DiaDuit · 04/09/2014 18:39

What did you mean by 'medicated for it' then?

Goldmandra · 04/09/2014 18:41

I have apologised

Thank you.

Hurr1cane · 04/09/2014 18:42

Alright, she was a dick, she's apologised, she won't be saying it again.

Anyway. Why is no one turning around my / dividers? Do they just feel sorry for me and not want to point out that I'm shit at correctly placing dividers?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 04/09/2014 19:33

What do yiu look like Hurr1?

Are you right menacing?

[wunk]

EllenMumsnet · 04/09/2014 19:44

Evening shoppers. Just a polite reminder to play naicely and all that. Don't want the Great Divider Divide to split the MN community

Feel am missing out terribly by shopping online Sad. Is there an app for this?

KellyElly · 04/09/2014 19:46

I'm trying this out in Sainsburys tomorrow Grin

TheCunnyFunt · 04/09/2014 19:49

Blimey, MNHQ are getting involved now, I never realised shopping dividers could cause such a bunfight Shock

OP posts:
morethanpotatoprints · 04/09/2014 19:49

Has anybody taken a divider off a closed belt.
I did the other day as people in front only had a bit and there was only one divider. I hate keeping people waiting and there was a big queue behind me.
It set all the alarms off as it was supposed to stay on the belt when it was closed. whoops.

TheCunnyFunt · 04/09/2014 19:51

Will my thread go down in history as the Great Divider Divide? Will posters be talking about this in years to come...?

OP posts:
Hurr1cane · 04/09/2014 19:53

Hahaha I wish I looked right menacing! I just like to pretend I'm fierce, I actually look about 16 even though I'm 26.

Actually it's he internet, no one knows what I look like.... Yeah, I have huge muscles and shit.

LoveBeingAwakeInTheNight · 04/09/2014 19:53
