To think this misses the point about costs of childcare?

"Critics have complained that homes where one parent stays at home to look after children will not benefit."

This is in response to the new scheme where parents will get 20% of childcare costs paid for by the government.
I'm a CM and all for subsidies of any sort to help out parents, but other than the odd day when you might need to go for an interview etc. I can't see why a stay at home parent needs to get childcare subsidies or am I missing a major point here?!

I haven't namechanged Confused. So it wasn't me.

LittleBearPad · 06/09/2014 19:50

Well I did but it was over 2 years ago and I never posted on any of your threads under my old nickname.

And I haven't defamed you. Don't be silly.

morethanpotatoprints · 06/09/2014 20:05

LittleBear

I am maybe being a tad sensitive but your post was twisting the original thread I started asking for advice as I didn't understand the system.
I think most sane people don't want to pay more tax than they have to.
I wasn't trying to fiddle the system or even bend it to suit m needs but it was taken as such and now continued as such many months if not a year after.

As for being a hypocrite, please point it out.
Throughout this thread all I have done is argue for fairness for all and to state that some sahps do need childcare and some children from sahps would benefit from cc.
I have said that if it is to be given to people who are able to make choices whether they work or not it should be given to all those who make a choice not just wohps.

Finally, did you never claim your cb when you were entitled to it, and I suppose if you aren't entitled to it now then you wouldn't claim.
I have only ever claimed for what we needed, some benefits we were entitled to we didn't claim as we thought we could manage without.
Tax credits are awarded due to income, if I was rolling in it they wouldn't pay me. It is also paid on last years accounts.
So If one earns too much this year their award will cease next year.
I hope that is clear.

iamusuallybeingunreasonable · 06/09/2014 20:25

You will never pay more tax than you are meant to, and if it's miscalculated you get it back

You can try to evade tax obviously, but I'm sure you didn't do that, that would be silly

LittleBearPad · 06/09/2014 20:27

I haven't called you a hypocrite.

Yes we claimed CB for the nine or so months we were able to. We also claim childcare vouchers at present and will continue to do so unless the new scheme is brought in at which point it will be more tax efficient to use it as it stands at present.

morethanpotatoprints · 06/09/2014 20:34

LittleBear

I do realise it wasn't you who called me a hypocrite, but for just that bit it seemed silly to post twice.

Anyway, as I have nothing to gain here, as I have never used nor intend to use cc, I will bugger off and see dd who wants mum to snuggle and watch something.
I will leave the sahps to argue for fairness. Maybe I will return at some stage and have my hypocrisy explained to me, but I won't hold my breath.

ArsenicFaceCream · 06/09/2014 20:38

Cute photo anyone?

snapple · 06/09/2014 20:42

When I returned to work it took me ten months to finds job and I paid in excess of 10 k in childcare as had no other help.

I was very pleased if could use childcare vouchers when I finally found a job.

I can totallyseehow difficult it might be for a sahm to get back into the workforce.
Basically in the uk once you have a child it is really difficult unless you are rich or have lots of help.

RufusTheReindeer · 06/09/2014 20:44

Aaaahhh

Is that yours?

RufusTheReindeer · 06/09/2014 20:44

Sorry that was to arsenic

ArsenicFaceCream · 06/09/2014 20:45

No. My dogs would eat a kitten sadly.

It's the emergency de-escalation photo Wink

SeagullsAndSand · 06/09/2014 20:58

Arsenic has a good arsenal of these.

Must just add I think Morethan has dealt very measuredly with some quite unpleasant posts.

Can we remember that there are people behind usernames, there is no need to be unnecessarily nasty. We're all adults, not teenagers behind the bike shed.

RufusTheReindeer · 06/09/2014 21:17

arsenic

Yeah, I don't think that would make such a good photo...although it would sum up the tone of this thread

seagull

Completely agree

JassyRadlett · 06/09/2014 22:07

Yes, morethan has been sweetness and light and in no way unpleasant to other posters.

Permanentlyexhausted · 06/09/2014 22:16

Just had to respond to Amothersplace's ridiculous comment from earlier this afternoon. (I was too busy building flatpack furniture with my daughter this afternoon to be MNing earlier. She's pretty handy with a hammer for an 8 year old!)

And you WOHP with a downer on SAHMS, it is the SAHMS who are volunteering to hear your kids read at school, to make up the number of responsible adults to make a school trip viable , helping out in the community.

Bollocks!

I WOH on a full-time basis in a professional job. I also run our local Brownie unit which is another 6-7 hours work a week and occasionally help out on school trips. It is laughable to suggest that this is the sole preserve of the SAHM.

morethanpotatoprints · 06/09/2014 22:28

Jazzy

Theres a difference in intent though.
I didn't intend to offend you, when you told me I had I apologised.
I didn't see it as being offensive in any way because it isn't the way I would have reacted had the same been said to me.
You probably find what I do boring, It doesn't upset me.

ArsenicFaceCream · 06/09/2014 22:34

Hamsters are nice too.

Evening all,

We've had a few reports about this thread tonight. We'll be going through it to remove any posts we feel cross the line - but it's 900 posts long, so it may take us a wee while!

In the meantime, can we please ask you to tone it down/keep it clean/play nice for the last hundred posts?

Does anyone have any more cute kitten pics? Grin

RufusTheReindeer · 06/09/2014 22:51

That poster came on once, made her inflammatory comment and left. I think she may be on a wind up and fuck me has it worked

How on earth do you add cute pictures anyway???

I just looked at this from an angle and it looks like the picture, table, glass are tilting.
Or have I had one too many - cups of tea, I can't drink alcohol.

RufusTheReindeer · 06/09/2014 23:16

JassyRadlett · 06/09/2014 23:25

Keep digging, morethan. You were flat out rude, and you later confirmed that you meant to be.
