So a friend is getting married in July and I asked her if she knew what she wanted to do for her hen do.

She wants to hire a hot tub for the weekend and have lots of people over to her house.

The price she told me I'm guessing it will be standard size so 8/10 people max, so I'm also guessing she will have people over in groups.

Aibu to think it's rather gross and possibly awkward?

You just know that someone will probably pee in it and with it being outside it'll have all grass in it after a few hours.

YAK. Yanbu at all. I think it's highly...wrong....to invite non family to share a hot tub.

PumpkinBones · 01/09/2014 21:02

I don't understand the appeal of hot tubs at all and the idea of sitting in one with a load of people I don't know is
Luckily (!) I have really low blood pressure and an inner ear problem and get really faint and dizzy in them. I wouldn't be able to spend an evening in one. I suggest you prep some symptoms Grin

It makes me poo lifes especially after food and wine. Heat does funny things to my digestion.

plummyjam · 01/09/2014 22:02

Google hot tub folliculitis.

LuluJakey1 · 01/09/2014 22:22

I would hate it. I wouldn't go but then I hate hen parties of any description. I didn't have one and DH didn't have a stag do, we went out with each other instead.

squoosh · 02/09/2014 10:00

I'm always a bit baffled by people who say they hate hen parties, of any description. Does that mean you also hate socialising with your friends?

Morloth · 02/09/2014 10:15

Soup.

Lifesalemon · 02/09/2014 10:16

Thanks for that plummy
the promise of pus filled lumps sound very attractive. Grin

BucktoothedGirlinLuxembourg · 02/09/2014 10:17

I hate hot tubs.

Tacksville.

Lifesalemon · 02/09/2014 10:21

squooch
I hate all hen parties, its never the same as an ordinary get together with friends. There's the pressure with hen parties nowadays to have a theme or do something different and that something usually ends up being slightly tacky, for example 'hot tub's'

sweetnessandlite · 02/09/2014 10:22

Soup.

Morloth - make that Sweat Soup!

I've only been on 2 hen dos, and they were just normal nights out in the pub.But then I'm quite old. Hen dos (and lets face it they usually seem to be weekends) seem to be expensive and over organised nowadays to me. If I was invited to one now I'd probably not go, tbh.

SwedishEdith · 02/09/2014 10:36

It's all very well saying don't get in if you don't want to but, if you're the only one sitting it out, you're going to feel pretty awkward. If you have to go the verucca and heavy period excuse should work. Otherwise don't go - I hate the idea of hot tubs

Elledouble · 02/09/2014 10:55

Has anyone said "dirty sex pond" yet?

PumpkinBones · 02/09/2014 11:00

The problem is with hen nights is that it isn't normal socialising - it is bringing together all your different groups of friends in one awkward hit!

QuinionsRainbow · 02/09/2014 11:33

But friend is a person who likes to think she has millions of friends, so would invite everyone from her sister, to her sisters boyfriends cousins best friend. Also her stb husband is rather immature and would definitely do gross things in there.

I never had a hen do, so can't really comment, but does one really invite boyfriends, stb husbands etc. I thought it was a girls-only affair. And as for the millions of friends - what do those who can't fit in the tub at any one time do while they are waiting for their turn?

Lifesalemon · 02/09/2014 14:47

Possibly stand around comparing their pus filled bumpy bits ?

Crinkle77 · 02/09/2014 14:55

I had a friend who had a hot tub and it was great fun.
