To not want to put 7mo DS in a nursery?

Dp thinks it would 'be good for him to develop his social skills' Hmm
DS is 7mo ffs, he's a happy friendly little baby, he sees people daily, has a big sister. We do all sorts
With him
I think (in an ideal world) up to at least 3 that a little one should to be cared for by mum/dad or relTive or friend.
I'm on mat leave til January, and then I'll be working 2 days to dp's 3. We don't NEED outside help.

If anyone can point me in the direction of 'evidence' about how nurseries are not great environments for babies I'd be grateful.

Both my DCs started at 10m. Both were BFed bottle refusers and happy to abstain from milk in my absence. Both have enjoyed going from the start. They have different personalities the younger one being much more gregarious, and the older enjoying his own company with a quiet confidence. That is the way they just are.

I haven't needed the childcare consistently through Ds1's time there, but he's been kept in for consistency to him, and because I benefit from the space. I have very little support network, so that time at nursery is valuable to me, and indirectly to DH.

My DC started FT at 5 months. She is a wonderful child who had the most amazing time. Her carer did her a 'This is Your Nursery Life' when she left. So many happy memories.

I had to go to back to work FT at that point. But I would have chosen to regardless (and regardless of any book advised). I found the baby stage mainly tiring and boring.

That said, I really don't think a child needs nursery to socialize at all. But maybe - as someone said upthread - your DP isn't keen on having him all day? That is obviously a different issue.
