Hi,

Tesco has stopped stocking a Free From Smoothie that contains a high level calcium, and is very well suited for allergy children.

My DS has multiple allergies and it is very difficult to get enough calcium inside him. These smoothies are the only thing he accepts and 3 of them give him enough calcium for the day. They were especially good not just because of the taste but also because of the design of the pouches, which are almost the same as Ella's kitchen pouches, and my DS was already familiar to them and took a liking to them immediately.

Unfortunately Tesco has stopped stocking them and discontinued them. With a multiple allergy child it is very difficult to get enough nutrients in them, and this is a big blow to many, including us. Would you be kind enough to sign this petition asking Tesco to restock them?

Thanks! :)

Oh for gods sake just sign the petition or don't. If the OP has found something that works for her and her kids won't take anything else then leave her to it. I'm sure she is aware of how much sugar is in it. If her kids have severe allergies I'm sure sugar is the last of her worries.
She doesn't need a lecture.

www.tesco.com/direct/fill-n-squeeze-reusable-baby-food-pouches-10-x-150ml/429-8984.prd - tesco sell them too!

ilovepowerhoop · 30/08/2014 09:57

ok, I won't!

Just trying to find alternatives

2plus1plus1 · 30/08/2014 10:08

Well said clarabum
My children have allergies and right now it's a nightmare trying to get acceptable foods for them that meet their basic nutritional needs.
My sympathies OP

ChangeIsNear · 30/08/2014 10:08

ilove, DD can't tolerate orange juice. It's a minefield when you have a multiple allergy child.

Clarabum the OP has posted in AIBU. I think it's fair enough if people want to comment or answer the question in her OP.

I also think it is really lovely of posters to suggest lots of recipes and alternatives which the OP could use, or could help any other posters.

So please think before you post aggressively.

fluffyduffydoo · 30/08/2014 10:16

would anything here be suitable?

www.sproutorganicfoods.com/kids

ChangeIsNear · 30/08/2014 10:18

Fluffy, thanks! Those are great but they don't have added calcium.

OP posts:
ilovepowerhoop · 30/08/2014 10:19

what can she have/not have?

addictedtosugar · 30/08/2014 10:24

If you made a smoothy with the required nutritional balance, would they be taken in these?

Sounds like a nightmare, but I don't think petitioning tesco is going to help, sorry.

RedPony · 30/08/2014 10:28

I have signed it for you OP. I hope you manage to find something suitable for your poor dd to eat. Thanks

differentnameforthis · 30/08/2014 10:31

Clarabum You are being unnecessarily rude. People are trying to offer op options.

I don't think it is fair of YOU to burst in & tell them not to. If op doesn't want suggestions she can ask people to not do so!

todayisnottheday · 30/08/2014 10:35

Getting signatures is a good idea but I do think it's unlikely to work. Tesco know a % age will be people who won't buy it but are supportive so you'd need a huge number to prove profitability which is what would sway them. I'd definitely consider contacting your local store. They may help or be able to point you to another product that is the same/similar enough.

Any chance you can buy a squeezy pouch to refill? Either a reusable or a cheap product you can ditch, wash and refill?

TheFairyCaravan · 30/08/2014 10:36

Can you not give him a yoghurt with a liquid calcium supplement stirred in to it?

ChangeIsNear · 30/08/2014 10:37

I think it's difficult for people who don't have multiple allergy children to realise how difficult it is to give the children a balanced diet (who are may be v fussy eaters too due to their negative experience with food). My DS is allergic to dairy, egg, soya, wheat, nuts, fish and citrus fruits. Anything that he likes and has nutritional value (and there aren't many things at all!) I really have to hold onto tightly. My dietician has told me repeatedly to not worry about sugar in take at all, and instead focus on him getting enough vitamins, calcium and iron into his diet, as that is very very difficult as it is.

ChangeIsNear · 30/08/2014 10:38

TheFairy, thanks, but yogurt contains soya, which he is allergic to too.

OP have you seen the refillable pouches you can get?

They are very similar to the design of an Ella's kitchen pouch and can be refilled with homemade food or smoothies.

They have them on amazon, maybe you could stick pictures of things he likes on them.

ilovepowerhoop · 30/08/2014 10:48

the pouches have been linked to a couple of times

ilovepowerhoop · 30/08/2014 10:52

these any good?

ilovepowerhoop · 30/08/2014 10:53

strawberry flavour too

SadOldGit · 30/08/2014 11:01

changeisnear have you contacted Tesco Head Office and asked if they can supply the manufacturers details - most supermarket products are manufactured by someone else - and it may be that the product is still being manufactured under a different brand.....................or that the manufacturer has stopped producing the product hence Tesco not stocking it

fluffyduffydoo · 30/08/2014 11:08

just signed your petition but have a few questions?

What is petition24.com? I have never heard of it before? It asked me for my full name (fair enough) but also my email address and I could not bypass this field

I have now recieved 5 emails offering me credit cards so that site is lying when they say they won't pass on your email details to anyone

How does it work then? Do petition24.com email tesco and send them the online petition or do you print it off and send them it?

ChangeIsNear · 30/08/2014 11:15

Ilove, thanks! I've tried those too, no luck sadly Hmm

Fluffy, I have no idea, sorry. I didn't start the petition, just came across it when I googled the product.

I don't think comparing commercial behemoth Tesco to the national not for profit public broadcaster is reasonable.

Waltonswatcher · 30/08/2014 12:22

Why can't your son have half an Haliborange calc with vitd? This was prescribed for my dd at around that age . They look and taste like sweets . It might be worth asking your dietitian about .
