Maybe father of the bride reminisces a bit too fondly about you and your red dress.

SolomanDaisy · 29/08/2014 15:47

It might have been the first time she's mentioned it to you, but I bet it's not the first time she has discussed it since the wedding.

DH's workmates partner was planning on wearing a pink leather mini skirt. She didn't in the end

MrSheen · 29/08/2014 15:55

Isn't red traditionally worn by the grooms mistress or some such bollocks?

Curlyweasel · 29/08/2014 15:57

Isn't red traditionally worn by the grooms mistress Oh yes, very traditional ... in Noo Jersey maybe ... Smile

MrSheen · 29/08/2014 15:58

I think I got that from my Grandma, who also objected to green for reasons I can't remember and anything with birds on Confused

Were you on intimate terms with the groom OP?

Did people see the aforementioned red lycra hanky draped over a chair while various naked limbs poked out under the top table?

There's always someone dressed totally inappropriately at a wedding.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 29/08/2014 16:01

Oh er Mrs!

squoosh · 29/08/2014 16:02

There's always one of these guys too.

I'd rather wear bright scarlet to a wedding than black. And there's ALWAYS someone dressed in all-black, funeral-style. At the christening I most recently attended, one of the godmothers was in all-black, even with a black hat Hmm

UncouthLostYouth · 29/08/2014 16:13

Thanks for the support, phonebox (not that I deserve it).
The baby at that christening ought to watch out for spindles on her 15th birthday...

squoosh Grin add a peephole bra and you got it.

I hope you got lucky at this wedding Uncouth, waste of perfectly good lycra otherwise.

NickiFury · 29/08/2014 16:25

In my twenties my mates and I used to say "Jane Norman, Tarty Clothes For Skinny Women". Personally I wouldn't wear red lycra to a wedding or anywhere else but neither would I be bitching about it five years later.

Numanoid · 29/08/2014 16:26

Shame on you for wearing such a dress to a wedding. Shock

No, YANBU (or, you weren't being unreasonable). It's a bit odd that MOTB feels the need to bring it up 5 years later. Hmm

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/08/2014 16:27

I wear black to everything. I love black old Goth.

Anotherchapter · 29/08/2014 16:28

You clearly took the limelight of the bride Grin

sweetheart · 29/08/2014 16:29

I don't think it's probably the colour of the dress so much as the style and length. We went to a wedding last year and there were a couple of girls there who basically looked like prostitutes. Yes they have great figures and could pull off the outfits but not for a wedding - nightclub maybe. I think at things like a wedding it's about having a bit of class rather than just looking like an s**g Wink

specialsubject · 29/08/2014 16:36

my wedding dress was like this on the top, with a full skirt -I think the label was that famous designer 'Miss Selfridge'. Wore the dress to several other weddings too.

(waves to husband of two decades plus)

I don't think it is 'tacky'. You don't have to dress like nana's curtains to go to a wedding.

specialsubject · 29/08/2014 16:37

ps at a recent wedding, there were lots of girls in skintight dresses and very high heels. As far as I saw, none of them were selling sexual services. They looked very good.

is it the 1940s in here?
