to sell unwashed clothes

BedPig2013 · 26/08/2014 15:09

I'd make it clear in the ad that they need a wash and it's just lots of my dd's baby clothes. I don't have the space to dry them and can't really rely on the weather to get them dry on the line at the minute.

Yes, yavvU.

It will affect the price and I wouldn't want the possibility of some unknown dribble/vomit etc.

Just wash a few at a time.

wibblyjelly · 26/08/2014 15:11

As long as you made it clear, I can't see an issue...

Pinkandpurplehairedlady · 26/08/2014 15:12

It depends on if they are dirty from being worn or just need freshening after being stored for awhile. If the latter than YNBU but the former is yucky.

Aeroflotgirl · 26/08/2014 15:12

Errrr that is grim, no no no! I can imagine them arriving in the post with food and poo all over them. If you can't dry them wait fir a nice day, wack them on short cycle and dry them outside.

MrsCampbellBlack · 26/08/2014 15:13

As in they're dirty or were washed but a while ago?

I really couldn't bring myself to sell dirty clothes and can't imagine anyone buying them.

CrohnicallyDepressed · 26/08/2014 15:14

It depends, on whether they have been taken out of her wardrobe (so weren't actually dirty, and just need a freshen up) or if you've taken them off your DD and put them straight into the 'sell' pile. If the former then it's fine to sell them unwashed, and I don't think you need to mention it in your ad. I (and I imagine most people) will always wash second hand stuff before putting it on DD, even if things are clean they might have used different detergent and DD is prone to rashes.

Gruntfuttock · 26/08/2014 15:16

I wouldn't give away dirty clothes, let alone sell them. That's VVU.

waithorse · 26/08/2014 15:17

Would many people buy unwashed clothes ? Hmm I hope you mean they have just been in the wardrobe for a while.

Bleugh!

BedPig2013 · 26/08/2014 15:18

Thanks, they're not dirty with poo or sick just probably not the freshest from being stored for a while, guess I'll try and get them dry on the line as much as I can

OP posts:
googoodolly · 26/08/2014 15:18

That's really grim. I know most people wash clothes before wearing them anyway, but I would not buy stuff that hadn't been washed, even if you had mentioned it, sorry.

Just wash and dry them. Baby clothes don't take up a lot of room.

GreenPetal94 · 26/08/2014 15:18

I always wash stuff I buy on ebay, when it arrives.

I think its ok if you are just not "rewashing" them. But its not ok if they are actually dirty.

Merel · 26/08/2014 15:19

If you are thinking of selling anything on ebay, bear in mind that it is part of the T&Cs that second hand clothing is laundered.

I wouldn't make an offer on anything that stated it needed washing, it sounds grim, and it if turned up in a state I would complain.

maras2 · 26/08/2014 15:21

That's just yucky.I wouldn't even give away stuff that hadn't been washed.

butterflybuttons · 26/08/2014 15:26

it is against eBay rules to send dirty, unwashed clothes. Plus it is utterly vile.

BedPig2013 · 26/08/2014 15:45

As I've said they're not dirty dirty but could probably do with being freshened up a bit in a wash, normally it's not something I'd consider but I'd struggle to get them dry and I need them out the house because they're taking up room. I wasn't planning on selling on eBay but thanks for the tips

phantomnamechanger · 26/08/2014 15:46

as everyone says, actually dirty then Shock, but just out of storage and needing a freshen up = fine

IF you meant the former (mind boggles) then, aside from anything else, actually saying they are worn/unlaundered will attract some proper pervs and I am assuming you want other babies to wear the clothes rather than have some sicko sniffing at them?

phantomnamechanger · 26/08/2014 15:48

x-posts. In that case, I think you don't need to go to the effort as whoever buys them will re-wash them anyway! They may not be buying to wear immediately, may only be wanting to store for a few months till they are ready for that size.

Owllady · 26/08/2014 15:49

She has said they are not dirty
I was going to have a car boot op, and was just going to take them from the drawers without 're washing

BedPig2013 · 26/08/2014 15:55

Thanks, had a look in the first bag and apart from a few bits I've thrown because they've got suncream stains everything else seems fine

OP posts:
whois · 26/08/2014 16:23

Who on earth would buy dirty second hand baby clothes?!? Gross.

ilovepowerhoop · 26/08/2014 16:25

read the thread fgs, they are not dirty just not totally fresh from being stored. She is not trying to sell then out of the dirty washing basket!

ilovepowerhoop · 26/08/2014 16:26

you could always hang them out without being washed and they would get freshened up a bit that way

HavanaSlife · 26/08/2014 16:29

Ive sold and given away stuff that has been bagged up in the wardrobe that I havent had time to re wash. I just say its been stored so will need washing. Its usually on fb and pwople are paying very little money for it and they dont seem to mind.
