I felt like I'd woken up in a parallel universe this morning and saw all the comments from people bemoaning how much they missed him last night. Seriously, I never liked him as the doctor. I adored David Tennant and watched every single one of his episodes, but I although I gave Smith a chance I just didn't connect or gel with him. I didn't get it and don't know why he was ever cast in the past. Also don't get me started on Amy Pond, I bloody loathed her with a passion!

I drifted away from the series completely during the Smith era, but now Capaldi has taken over I'm coming back. He's already a vast improvement on Smith, I could tell you that after one episode.

Where the fuck has all this Smith love come from?!

YANBU. I never really liked Matt Smith as the doctor although some I that could have been down to Amy (I get the feeling I'm in the minority not liking her as well!) I kept watching in the hope I would grow to like him but I just didn't. Enjoyed last nights episode though with PC.

Nomama · 24/08/2014 18:23

Thanks, Girl in the Fireplace. We remembered the plot just not the name of the episode. I must have spent at least 30 seconds worriting that!

scottishmummy · 24/08/2014 18:23

Natty smithies a priddy boy with limited range, pouty and very pouty

Bumply · 24/08/2014 18:24

I liked Tennant until Matt Smith came along and I liked his more subtle approach. My boys have lost interest in Dr Who these days, so I've not seen Peter Capaldi yet.

WHY do so many women fancy David Tennant?? I don't get it at ALL. He looks so sickly!

tabulahrasa · 24/08/2014 18:32

I don't think DT is pretty Confused I still preferred him to MS.

I'm quite surprised at MS being called subtle, I always thought he was OTT - that's what I didn't like.

AnyoneForTARDIS · 24/08/2014 18:36

I couldn't stand Tennant.

Smith was a brilliant actor who was let down by pathetic scripts. and Amy Pond! (Rory was good).

Smith had the capacity to embrace traits of all previous incarnations yet make the doctor his own too.

YABU! you may be in a minority! Tardis Tardis

BTW I used to LOATHE Doctoe Who and im now a full convert!

scottishmummy · 24/08/2014 18:38

Lol,your blaming smiths lacklustre acting on bad scripts. Can't polish a turd

No script could've saved Matt smith

MirandaGoshawk · 24/08/2014 18:41

YABU. I loved Matt Smith, he was my favourite doctor of all, and I can remember them right back to Patrick Troughton! I liked his wit, depth and the fact that he was a unique personality.

David Tennant just seemed to be hyper all the time, rushing around and breathlessly throwing away his lines.

AnyoneForTARDIS · 24/08/2014 18:46

Tennant was always talking through his teeth/snogging everyone going/loud/arrogant .

PixieofCatan · 24/08/2014 18:49

Haha, DP stopped watching it because of Matt Smith. Apparently he refused to believe that the doctor would be a hipster. He's looking forward to watching it again now, I'm not :/

googoodolly · 24/08/2014 18:49

YANBU. Matt Smith was dull - only liked him in the last episode he did, perhaps because I knew he was going!

My favourite of the "new" doctors (never watched the old ones) is Christopher Eccleston so far, but I loved Capaldi last night, so who knows.

WeHateAmy · 24/08/2014 19:03

YABU.

I didn't think I would like Matt Smith but by the time he left he was my Doctor.

I liked Amy as well, although you might not believe it from my name Grin. We hate a different Amy.

I found it hard to take to PC at first but by the end I was warming to him and I think I'm going to like him.

Showy · 24/08/2014 19:14

Tennant is and always will be my doctor. He made me fall in love with Dr Who, having only really, really liked it before. Matt Smith was okay actually. I found him passably different and grew to like him. Suspect Capaldi will be good but they need some good scripts.

Never liked Amy and Martha was bloody awful but Clara is okayish. I liked Rose and Donna.

HangingBasketCase · 24/08/2014 19:28

I'd completely forgotten about Christopher Eccleston! Yes, I liked him as well, although not as much as Tennant.

VodkaJelly · 24/08/2014 19:51

I loved Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor, thought he was brilliant. Cannot stand David Tennant, thought he was a crap doctor. Matt Smith was ok, didnt mind him too much, but have not seen last nights, will watch it tonight to see what i make of PC

BoneyBackJefferson · 24/08/2014 19:56

I think that the purpose of having different people play the doctor is so that it can be kept fresh and the doctor can be different, it is IMO a huge strength of the show. (that and the ability to get rid of annoying companions)

Now everyone keep calm and have a jelly baby.

trufflesnout · 24/08/2014 19:57

I liked Capaldi but the script was absolutely horrendous. They need to lose Clara asap because she's shitter than a shit thing, and they can cut out the gruesome threesome while they're at it - the lizard, her lesbian lover and the potato man are all horrendous.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 24/08/2014 20:07

Phew, I thought it was just me that didn't understand the rambling, meandering, incomprehensible scripts anymore.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 24/08/2014 20:42

Yes! Completely agree with Hangingbasket here,I just didn't get matt smith at all and stopped watching the last series.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 24/08/2014 20:51

"the lizard, her lesbian lover and the potato man are all horrendous"

I love them! They'd make a great spin-off series.

Agree with BoneyBackJefferson, there's always going to be this debate because each new doctor is so different.

I loved DT especially his episodes with Bernard Cribbins.
Not a MS fan at all, always felt he was over acting. I gave up watching.
I enjoyed PC last night but not a fan of Clara. Was she always so annoying?
Tom Baker was the best doctor then David Tennant.

Fluffyears · 24/08/2014 21:30

David tennant was the right amount of crazy for the dr. Hated Matt smith and never watched his episodes, hoping capaldi does a good job.
