a month away from the vote thought it would be interesting to ask

( no bunfighting , derision or soundbites please. just yes or no and why. feel free to post more than once with different reasons. No links unless independent fact or opinion, nothing from the official campaigns)

I'm a YES

because Westminster's failed to protect the vunerable and the UK's me first politics have taken us down a particularly nasty path. An independent Scotland leans towards to left and can potentially choose a better route. And if a change happens in scotland then I think that that could inspire a change in the direction of politics in the rest of the UK.

Love Greg Moodies indyref cartoons, especially this one. :)

Not primping, but pretending.....although primping rather suits Salmond! iPad fail.

JudysPriest · 23/08/2014 16:55

Yes.

JohnCusacksWife · 23/08/2014 16:55

I just can't wait for this whole bloody thing to be over and for us to know, one way or the other, what direction our future lies in. I'm heartily fed up of feeling anxious and unsettled about it all. Am dreading waking up on the 19th, to be honest.

Not unreasonable at all.

I'll be voting YES because with independence there is the possibility us being able to have a more socially just society, transform lives and futures and to inspire others to the same. It's only a possibility but I'll take hope over fear anytime.

I'm a YES!!!!!! [And I am so excited just to be part of such a historical occasion].

Pat45 · 23/08/2014 16:57

Choc, one more thing, being part of the UK is great with 'no significantly different religious beliefs. It's sensible and mature to have administration of the whole island'. Have your seen the news recently?

FannyFifer · 23/08/2014 16:58

Wonder the same about the No posters, quite a new poster yourself.

I have been on Mumsnet from prob around 2006/7 under various names which I'm sure Mumsnet wld confirm If necessary.

expatinscotland · 23/08/2014 17:00

Oh, dear god, now we have conspiracy theories.

Dr Who is on tonight, too.

Coincidence?

Not depressing, engaging.

Folk who have never been interested in politics or been involved in any way, not even voted before are involved & excited.

I'm out campaigning locally & it's amazing.

JudysPriest · 23/08/2014 17:02

Ditto, Fanny.

I was just putting leaflets out last week, not knocking or talking to people. They came out to talk to us and say hello! Was great.

JohnCusacksWife · 23/08/2014 17:02

The conspiracy theories have at least given us some light relief during all this... The scottish national anthem deliberately being played more quietly than the english one at the CW Games was a good one. Oh, and MI5 are apparently working on massive electoral fraud to ensure a No vote, apparently.

FannyFifer · 23/08/2014 17:03

Majority of people who have posted on majority of #indyref threads on here are long term contributors to the site, I have checked previously. Grin

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/08/2014 17:03

Dr Who is on tonight, too.

Obviously that is part of a dastardly plan by BT to remind of the great and noble British Institutions we would lose in iScotland

For Fanny as she likes cartoons. wingsoverscotland.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/borisback.jpg

, so either mumsnet has a disproportionate number of yes voters,

Isn't Mumsnet widely accepted to have posters at the more intelligent end of the spectrum? Wink

FannyFifer · 23/08/2014 17:05

Not disproportionately Yes, this is what's happening, Yes are winning.

Pat45 · 23/08/2014 17:06

Choc you state that 'dissatisfaction with the status quo is a reason to try to improve things for everyone rather than to claim unfair treatment and leave' - tell that to the 2 women a week who are murdered in the UK as a result of domestic violence.

Leaving is not sign of failure it is sometimes the best thing to do when a relationship is not working.

Only if it's Cairn O'Mohr, the Scottish wine. Naturally. And definitely Dr Who for me, as this time he is a Scotsman who refused to change his natural accent for the role.

Ah, bliss.

Wink

Yes, very easily recognisable as I don't need to hide behind name changes anymore than waste an entire, beautiful afternoon making gross generalisations about others whilst changing no one's mind.

affafantoosh · 23/08/2014 17:09

Most of the Yessers here are recognisable names. I don't think this is WingsOverMumsnet Grin just a snapshot of public opinion :)

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/08/2014 17:14

Although we should potentially expect some new members as WFI tweeted that dodgy Sunday Times poll being conducted on MN...
