My Partner is not happy that I still see my step children

My partner has a problem even if I mention the name of my step children from a previous relationship let alone meet them.
I think its the link to my previous partner that is at the root of the problem.
I have no feelings for my previous partner whatsoever.
And I do not need to see my previous partner.
Its difficult to cut people out of your life and I would like to know
Does anyone else have similar issues?

Does he have any redeeming features ? (am struggling to see any actually that would over ride you being emotionally manipulated into cutting out your adult stepchildren)

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 21/08/2014 18:53

Dump him.

Your DSD is 30 and probably like a close friend to you. You dont see your ex, so he shouldnt have an issue with you seeing a friend.

Zante111 · 21/08/2014 19:01

Thanks Doittojulia , Anyf**ker,And TaliZorah..and everyone else who has commented.

Yes he has redeeming features ..And I love him deeply.
Just wish he could get past this stuff.

I would stop seeing the partner- you don't just ditch people in your life .

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 21/08/2014 19:02

Boring twat then too op. Hope he's sex on a stick!!

Seriously possessive and jealous are non redeeming features.

YouTheCat · 21/08/2014 19:03

Zante, he will never stop bringing this up and any other minor thing he feels put out by... forever. Do you want to live like that?

Delphiniumsblue · 21/08/2014 19:05

If you don't want to ditch him just sit him down and tell him directly that if he is insecure that is his problem, but as an adult he needs to deal with it, but you have no intention of being told who you can see or not see.

AnyFucker · 21/08/2014 19:08

Stop "wishing" on his behalf. He's a dick

PlumpPartridge · 21/08/2014 19:08

He won't get past it, trust me.

Christmas was months ago FGS!

AnyFucker · 21/08/2014 19:09

OP, have you actually followed orders and cut contact with your DSD and her little child ?

If you have, or you do in the future, you are very, very silly

Zante111 · 21/08/2014 19:10

Yes your right.
This is his issue not mine
And constant persecution is not helping things.
He needs to get past it once and for all.

Delphiniumsblue · 21/08/2014 19:10

Tell him that you will be going to any future weddings and maybe a step grandma etc and so he needs to accept it.

AnyFucker · 21/08/2014 19:11

But have you reduced contact with her ?

be honest

Zante111 · 21/08/2014 19:11

No but I don't see much of her TBH.

OP posts:
Zante111 · 21/08/2014 19:11

Yes reduced is correct

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 21/08/2014 19:12

I would be increasing contact just to fuck him off

AnyFucker · 21/08/2014 19:13

Then you are already being controlled. How does that make you feel ? Safe ? Happy ?

AnyFucker · 21/08/2014 19:13

Loved ?

gertiegusset · 21/08/2014 19:14

Me too AF.

Zante111 · 21/08/2014 19:16

:)
Like I said its the xmas thing he cant get past that I was in the same place as my ex and even though he was invited with his children he did not accept.
But he says I should have split my day and seen him..but this was all organized months in advance so would have been difficult to do as he does not live close by

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 21/08/2014 19:17

Why should you have reorganised your xmas plans for him, I presume a relatively new partner at that stage

he wants you to dance to his tune. And you already are. Good luck with that.

Zante111 · 21/08/2014 19:18

I see that now AF ...Thank you

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 21/08/2014 19:19

I hope this thread helps you to reassert your right to maintain a relationship with your DSD in a way that you see fit

If it means the end of your current partnership, so be it

Zante111 · 21/08/2014 19:20

Thank you AF and everyone who posted comments and advice
