AIBU to hang lacy underwear on the washing line of our overlooked garden?

A friend of mine was shocked I hang my lacy undies/bras on the line to dry in our garden because the neighbours might see..

I think it is perfectly normal and reasonable to hang underwear on the line and that no-one looks/cares what washing people hang out?

Your friend would hate me. The garden is at the front of the house and lots of lacey underwear on the line. To really get her judging it's a main road and bus route.

One of my friends is really funny about drying her underwear on the the line. I was like " Well at least my neighbours know I wear some - they must think you don't"

Oops! I really don't get why you wouldn't, tbh. Presumably the neighbours guess that you wear underwear. I hang everything out, has never occurred to me not to. I'm not ashamed of pants...

I wear big lacy pants. I have taken to kind of folding them before pegging so they don't look so vast. They go in the middle of the line with bits shielding them. I happily peg up dh & ds pants though as that's different.

I don't hang my underwear on the line because as a teen my underwear was regularly stolen from the line. Grim.
I'm really paranoid about it now, so just hang mine indoors. Silly really as I now have a secure garden (though overlooked from the back).
Dp has on occasion, hung out the washing including my underwear and I've raced out and hastily snatched it all back in again like a loon!

There was a spate of knicker theft round at my aunt's street many years ago. The culprit was finally found a his bounty recovered. My aunt was invited to rummage through a bin bag full of stolen knickers to retrieve her own. She declined!

Mine always goes on the line, lacy or not!

I don't know what my size 6 neighbour must think when she sees my parachute sized (although very pretty!) bras!

I dread to think what your friend would think about my washing line at the moment. Not only does it have a lacy babydoll on it but it has a variety of tiny thongs and absolutely huge knickers too. My garden can be seen by at least 8 houses.

I wouldn't hang out peephole bras and crotchless knickers with their gusset-free area akimbo in case it provoked interesting questions from next dorr's little kids.

Otherwise - fine.

It all goes on the line here - lacy drawers, lace bras, sexy lingerie, stockings, the lot. What's to be embarrassed about? It's clean. You've cleaned it. It should be clean!

I don't understand the reason behind anyone who has a problem.

Back in the day, I lived somewhere where we all backed onto a shared court with washing lines, which was lovely, but I could never stop my elderly neighbour from dashing out at the least spot of rain and/or the moment things were dry, and presenting me with a neat pile of folded washing, knickers uppermost.

I gave up hanging my knickers up out there, I tell you!

I also put mine on the inside of my 'Whirly'. Mine are massive full briefs. I know one of my neighbour watches me from his Bob Dylan Shrine upstairs bedroom.

My armpit huggers never see beyond the tumble dryer.

I honestly felt violated and grubby. I still refuse to hang my smalls out 14 years later!

Underwear never goes on the line. I dry it inside, both mine and DH generally by means of tumble dryer (not bras obviously).

when I was a student (and did laundry very infrequently) I did a wash of all of my underwear (except the ones I was wearing) and it was ALL stolen off the line! they weren't expensive or nice ones either, just cheapy primark ones; it was really embarrassing and awkward as I had to go out and buy more commando! My housemates called the police but we never got invited to rummage through a binbag of pants so I guess they were never found.
They did return all the pegs to the peg bag though.

No see I might just buy really tiny Lacey things to hand up just to make the neighbours think I am tiny but dry my real pants on another private line.
