It's more of a WWYD really, and at this point is purely academic but I was just curious if anyone else felt as strongly as I do about this!

Bf and I were decorating and listening to the radio when the current number 1 came on and I casually mentioned that I liked the song.

We then had a massive argument where he accused me if being tone deaf and having no musical ear or taste at all (which I do but that's irrelevant!) and saying it was an auto tuned piece of crap, basically being a huge music snob.

I pointed out that it was currently number 1 so obviously lots of people other than just me like it and that it was only terrible in his opinion and it's ok to like different styles of music but he just kept going on and on.

We eventually had to agree to disagree but I was really hurt and offended after, music is important to me and there are lots of songs I like purely because I like the beat or because the lyrics speak to me not necessarily because the fit into my usual sphere of musical taste and I felt like he was really insulting a big part of me!

Wibu and over sensitive or was he being a dick?

He sounds horrible.

It should be possible to like different things without being insulting!

Despite a terrible weakness for Cafe Del Mar, DH did introduce me to Wings and other Sir Thumbsaloft stuff, which I loathed without having listened to. Especially which never fails to make me cry. Here I go again Smile

So I agree withquangle. I think people are saying he sounds like a teenager is because I remember at 14 sneering at bands for 'selling out' like they had a duty to me to carry on being my obscure favourites on the John Peel show rather than actually making a success of themselves.

I'm embarrassed at myself now Blush.

I still fucking hate Abba though.

My mum once swore blind she was enjoying listening to The Buzzcocks because my brother was demanding I turned it off, even though it wasn't hurting him and it was my turn on the record player.

I believed her for years.

Especially this which never fails to make me cry.

Hey - Red Rose Speedway is an excellent album. Most excellent.

I like Band On The Run, which reminds me of our first holiday in the only good bar in town - we were holed up there while outside was 18-30 hell.

I've been on an 18-30 holiday, so it's not that. This was something else. It was like being in a zombie film with cheap cocktails.

The owner only had about five albums and BOTR was his clear favourite. became our song.

I have new found respect for Live And Let Die too which I used to associate with the worst James Bond.

It's fantastic, except for that 'in this ever-changing world in which we live in' bit. Many's the late night when people have tried to convince me it's 'in which we're living' but I won't have it.

What a thrilling life I do lead.

Yes he's awesome (Paul Mc). And he never hit his wife (afaik) which the "cooler" one did. And he didn't bail out and become a tax exile while singing about no possessions. And yes that song is Smile Sad.

OP, I missed your earlier post where you said he's 31. Old enough to know better then.

My OH prides himself on being a music lover and liking lots of different types of music...he also used to spend a lot of time in a van so had way more time to listen to music than me, so he occasionally fell into the trap of thinking he was the only music afficiando in the relationship. He sometimes needed reminding that he wasnt Wink

The difference is, he would click and realise that we just had different taste, sometimes they crossed sometimes they didnt...he will never really be into Dance music and I will always fucking hate XT flaming C
