To think that this is attention seeking behaviour?

Sorry, it's another FB related post...

Someone on my friends list, who is generally quite attention seeking anyway, has been alluding for the past few weeks to the fact that she is going on holiday. She has done statuses about packing being done, and posted photographs of passports.

They are now clearly at their holiday destination, as she wrote a status today about being in the swimming pool. I have seen several questions on her recent photos and statuses asking where she is going and she has ignored those questions and replied to others. There seem to be a few people that know where she has gone as they act all in-the-know when replying to her, and make it clear that they know.

Today in reply to her swimming pool status, someone asked where she was on holiday and she replied that she would rather not say and she'd let on when she got home. As if she is some kind of celebrity that the paparazzi will follow!

AIBU to think that it is weird, attention seeking behaviour? She is a woman in her 40s btw, not a teen!

Let's hope she hasn't been burgled by the time she gets back. (Where she's on holiday won't matter to them).

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 18/08/2014 08:43

I don't do FB, do people really act like this? Grin

Icelollycraving · 18/08/2014 08:45

I would've said oh dear,it doesn't matter if it's nowhere that great,we've all done a budget holiday,the kids won't know the difference :)

Aeroflotgirl · 18/08/2014 08:52

Yes it must be Skegness or Clacton upon Sea Grin. Hide her updates, I would probably delete her

Aeroflotgirl · 18/08/2014 08:53

Good idea ice lolly Grin

firesidechat · 18/08/2014 08:54

Attention seeking, cryptic, passive aggressive posts are why I give Facebook a wide berth. It's not worth the mental energy.

FacebookWillEatItself · 18/08/2014 08:54

You have no idea StillStaying, no idea AT ALL. It's like torture sometimes.

Aeroflotgirl · 18/08/2014 08:54

Or saaaaaaaarf End upon Sea mabey

JazzAnnNonMouse · 18/08/2014 08:58

Maybe she's getting married?

Gatekeeper · 18/08/2014 09:00

I think she is probably in prison Grin

FacebookWillEatItself · 18/08/2014 09:01

Surely if you don't want people to know where you have been on your holiday you just don't mention your holiday until you get back? Not keep bloody mentioning it every five minutes but acting like it's a state secret.

Uurgh.

Although this is nothing, NOTHING I TELL YOU compared to the total twats who publicly (and usually quite illiterately) argue with, or criticise/insult their ex partners in endless ranting, semi-coherent expletive-ridden status updates designed for the attention of one person but callously inflicted on the rest of us.

Have they never heard of the Facebook private messaging facility? Confused

MaryWestmacott · 18/08/2014 09:02

Please, please start a 'wind up' posted, lots of ones like

"I guess Skeggy, or possibly Bognor"

then get someone else to say "no, she flew, I guess Bruges"

The more random the better, "Easter Island?" "Pitcarn?"

With a "you know, if you just say somewhere like Majorca after all this build up, we're going to be terribly disappointed, please let it be Tristan de Cunha"

IsabellaofFrance · 18/08/2014 09:08

I bet she is in Benidorm!

Finney2 · 18/08/2014 09:10

She'll be in Vegas getting married. What a knobhead though.

SweetsForMySweet · 18/08/2014 09:17

Maybe she went to peru with a funny looking bun on her head Wink Grin

PenelopeLane · 18/08/2014 09:21

"you know, if you just say somewhere like Majorca after all this build up, we're going to be terribly disappointed, please let it be Tristan de Cunha"

Say this! Although as well as Majorca list other places as well, or even say something more wide ranging as: "If you are anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere ... "

Fubsy · 18/08/2014 09:26

Perhaps she hasn't gone anywhere at all, and the pictures are photoshopped...

BirdhouseInYourSoul · 18/08/2014 09:44

Just write "I don't blame you for wanting to keep the destination a secret. drug smuggling can be a bit risky. Wouldn't want some jealous twat alerting customs! Enjoy!"

But just a thought, is she married or is it a big wedding anniversary year? Maybe she's eloping or she's renewing vows and doesn't want to upset people she's not invited...

sashh · 18/08/2014 09:52

I don't think she has gone anywhere. She has put a tent in the living room and they are pretending to be on holiday.

The pool, she has paid a local hotel to use their pool for the day. Her 'beach day' will be a trip to a local salon.

BakerStreetSaxRift · 18/08/2014 10:00

These suggestions are great! Please do it OP, then report back for our collective amusement!

Staywithme · 18/08/2014 10:01

You should have changed name before posting this, then linked her to it. I'd love to see her face as she reads it. Random people discussing her twatiness. Grin

NerfHerder · 18/08/2014 10:03

I bet it's Slough.

We go every year, hotel has a pool. Etc

We go for legoland Grin

eyebags63 · 18/08/2014 10:13

This type of person cannot resist boasting about flash holidays so she has to have gone somewhere mediocre or dodgy. Butlins maybe?

Incidentally, a few people have mentioned it here - can anyone tell me what is wrong with Mexico as a holiday vacation? Confused

FacebookWillEatItself · 18/08/2014 10:30

Yes, what's with the Mexico thing? Is it where all the undesirables go now?

GrossMeister · 18/08/2014 10:44

What a knobber.

Please unhide her feed as I really want to find out why she's being so vague :o

I'd be pissed off though if she was basically implying that cheap holidays are something to be embarrassed about. Hmm
