Cuz she's a girl and it's trains?? I think it's fine but other people have said not.

P.s child is a baby- not able to express an opinion!

Hmm Seriously?
GobblersKnob · 09/08/2014 18:26

You really shouldn't need to ask, train sets aren't for boys, they are for children, especially children who like trains Grin

RigglinJigglin · 09/08/2014 18:26

I have done, and will continue to but brio stuff and wooden trains for little girls.

Go for it I say.

PortofinoRevisited · 09/08/2014 18:26

Of course - why wouldn't it be?

KatoPotato · 09/08/2014 18:26

Is it a penis operated train set?

londonrach · 09/08/2014 18:27

Trains are for children. Doesn't matter if girl or boy...

ithoughtofitfirst · 09/08/2014 18:27

I just bought my ds a dolly wearing pink clothes!

Yanbu. It's all gravy.

CoffeeTea103 · 09/08/2014 18:27

Can't you ask the mum what she's into at the moment?

glenthebattleostrich · 09/08/2014 18:27

Dd got it for her second birthday and hasn't grown a penis! Its great.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/08/2014 18:28

YANBU. In fact, it would be a lovely gift for her.

missknows · 09/08/2014 18:29

I thought she would love it but when I told some people they said "trains? For a girl?" And made me doubt myself :-/

Just wanted not to feel stupid again! Thanks :-)

No, don't buy it, you need the right arrangement of chromosones to enjoy pushing a wooden train round tracks Confused

Teddybeau1988 · 09/08/2014 18:31

There's nothing wrong with it at all. My DDs had a lovely train set.

For his 4th birthday I bought my nephew a doll and buggy, as he loved playing with his cousins. Apparently it was his favourite toy ever, much to grandads dislike though

mistyegg · 09/08/2014 18:31

DD had a big set of Brio trains/tracks for her 2nd birthday. Nearly 5 now and still plays with it (although admittedly with DS more than on her own). I thought it was a great present, much appreciated by DD and no signs of penis growth either...

monsterowl · 09/08/2014 18:31

????

It makes me depressed that you're even asking this question. Your intuitions are right, and those who are questioning you are morons. Presumably they would be okay with you buying one of the zillions of slutty looking dolls that line the shelves ...

ReputableBiscuit · 09/08/2014 18:32

My NDN wouldn't let her baby son play with a toy kettle in case he grew up gay. Making a hot drink being a well-known factor in homosexuality.

Purpleflamingos · 09/08/2014 18:38

Ds has been building his wooden train set collection for 5 yrs now. There's a ban on more as we can't fit it all together even in the garden! Younger Dd loves playing with it too.

ithoughtofitfirst · 09/08/2014 18:39

A penis operated train LOL

ICanSeeTheSun · 09/08/2014 18:40

If you do and in years to come she catches a train on her own don't come crying on mumsnet.

nowahousewife · 09/08/2014 18:42

DD got brio train set for her 3rd christmas, we just kept adding it it over the years. She loved it as did DS who was 2 yrs younger.

No-one ever questioned it why should they?

ProfYaffle · 09/08/2014 18:43

Of course it's fine! My 2 dds had a massive box of wooden train stuff and loved it. No-one ever commented Confused

beccajoh · 09/08/2014 18:44

My daughter received a train set for Christmas and it's her favourite toy at the moment. She's 2. She doesn't know that society wants her to like pink, girly toys. She just knows she likes train. Choo choo!

BarbarianMum · 09/08/2014 18:45

Buy it. She may love it, she may not - but if she doesn't it won't be because she's a girl.

I have 2 ds'. Ds1 had a 5 year love affair with his train set, ds2 not bothered at all (yet still remains male).

Idontseeanyicegiants · 09/08/2014 18:49

Just do it, that brio stuff will out last us all Grin
Seriously I have a boy and 2 girls, our brio type train set (could have been from ikea actually was bought for DD when he was about 2 and nearly 12 years later it's still being played with by my youngest girl - her older brother and sister still do on occasion!
YANBU.

motherinferior · 09/08/2014 18:56

YABU. You will turn her into a lesbian who takes science subjects at school. Shock
