The mumsnet nappy hacks video, surely if you use a make up brush to apply nappy cream because 'washing your hands after applying cream is abit of a pain', you would have to wash the brush thoroughly which would possibly take longer? Or do you leave the brush sitting around with old cream on it? Who does a nappy change etc without washing hands anyway?

No offence intended. Just seems random, pointless and rather unhygienic to me. Each to their own I guess.

Confused

seriously? someone actually does that? to make their life easier? I think they lie.

Pico2 · 07/08/2014 22:08

You're right. That makes no sense. Washing a brush and your hands will take longer than just washing your hands. The alternative of leaving a dirty arse brush about is just revolting.

TheSkiingGardener · 07/08/2014 22:09

How does that help? Not one for me I don't think!

TheReluctantCountess · 07/08/2014 22:10

Nappy cream with a brush? That is really weird.

BoiledPiss · 07/08/2014 22:10

I agree... Actually i thought the same about the two nappy shite thing too!

ToastMakesMeHappy · 07/08/2014 22:11

Dirty arse brush Grin

How tho? Sudocrem ( the cream I used back in those days) was very thick and I can't imagine a makeup brush would pick the cream up easily, I'd have to use a stippling effect.... Poor baby!

DiaDuit · 07/08/2014 22:17

EWWW @ 'dirty arse brush' Envy imagining some flustered mum lifting the wrong brush to do her make up in the morning. grim.

I cant honestly believe someone uses a make up brush to put on nappy cream? nappy cream is so thick and clingy it would take ages to wash it all out properly and then wash your hands. if you really wanted to avoid nappy cream hand washing then you'd wear gloves wouldn't you. you'd still need to wash hands after but no nappy cream on them. and no minging brush.

Pico2 · 07/08/2014 22:18

What's the two nappy thing?

SunshineOutdoors · 07/08/2014 22:18

Agree. What's the two nappy thing?

WooWooOwl · 07/08/2014 22:18

I don't get it. Where is this weird video you speak of?

Choochootrain1 · 07/08/2014 22:19

I don't get it... I always used a cotton bud/ball I then threw away???

Doesn't everyone?!

HeySoulSister · 07/08/2014 22:19

Also, I used to rub the excess nappy cream into my hands as a kind of handcream Blush

DiaDuit · 07/08/2014 22:23

so you didn't wash your hands soulsister?

LizzieMint · 07/08/2014 22:24

I get very dry hands and the skin cracks, especially on my fingers so when I was doing a nappy change, a)to avoid having to wash my hands and b) to avoid poo going into the open wounds on my hands, I'd just wear disposable gloves.

There you go, nappy hack done. No dirty arse brush needed. Hmm

plumnc · 07/08/2014 22:24

Eww. I was wondering about that one too.
...wish I'd realised you could pull the vest down rather than up though. How did I miss that?

HeySoulSister · 07/08/2014 22:26

Not til I was done and baby dressed again... Didn't stop mid change to wash my hands!

SeaTurtleVomit · 07/08/2014 22:27

Yes, what Lizzie said about gloves. If you're really that squeamish about touching a butt that's been sitting in poo (that you just cleaned), wear gloves.

CalamitouslyWrong · 07/08/2014 22:31

Surely you should always wash your hands after changing a nappy anyway. Basic hygiene reasons, really.

So the hack gives you a dirty brush and you still need to go and wash your hands.

autumnmum · 07/08/2014 22:31

If you use a brush to put on nappy cream so you don't have to wash your hands, how do you clean your babies bum before hand? Unless you wear gloves like Lizzie (which would remove the need for a nappy cream brush) I would suggest hand washing is still required. I haven't changed a nappy for a few years but I was never so good with a wet wipe that I could claim my hands were spotless.

DiaDuit · 07/08/2014 22:31

no, I didnt think anyone stopped mid change to wash hands. not sure I understand the point of rubbing nappy cream into your hands as handcream if it's getting washed off 30 seconds later Confused

CalamitouslyWrong · 07/08/2014 22:31

I thought the two nappy tip was crap too.

DoJo · 07/08/2014 22:33

I thought that too - surely you're going to wash your hands anyway after changing a nappy, so why bother introducing an additional tool to the process. I always wipe my nappy cream applying finger on the nappy to get rid of as much as possible, but I can honestly say I had never really considered it a hardship before I saw that video and I am certainly not reconsidering!
Did anyone else think it's a bit cruel to make a baby wear two nappies at once, or is it just bad timing that this video has been on the page during the heatwave?

DiaDuit · 07/08/2014 22:49

two nappies? at the same time? for what reason? Confused

Greyola · 07/08/2014 22:54

But the point is that washing off sudocream is like washing off goose fat. It makes a waterproof barrier on your hands that you need to scrape/rub off before you can actually wash your actual hands.

And why would the brush be shitty? Who sudocreams a shitty bum?
