neighbours complaining about noise

Hi I live in a terraced house with my partner, son of 14 and a ten month old girl we have lived here for 5 and a half years and In the last month our neighbours have been in knocking our door and sending us solicitors letters complaing about banging doors pulling out chairs talking in de back garden and my baby playing with a little bouncy ball they also have a 5 month old baby which they say is very sensitive to noise Im at my wits end and fell ive to tiptoe around my own house half the times they say noise is coming from my house im not home both myself and my partner work and im also career for my terminal ill mother what can I do I could do without this stress and hassle

OP, we had neighbour hassles and a legal friend of mine told me that normal domestic noise (which was all we were making) did not count as a 'nuisance' in law. So I don't think your neighbours can do anything.

It is really horrible, though: stressful, wearing, worrying. The vile man next door to us would hammer on the wall if someone dared to run upstairs to grab a jumper and then run down again, though he knew this meant the DC were about to go out for the next 7 hours. He'd go out and leave his music on at full volume to 'punish' us. And so on. We didn't dare complain as he was trying to sell his house and we didn't want him having to report a neighbour dispute.

There was rejoicing up and down the street when he finally moved! Sadly he still lives locally: lots of passive aggressive glaring when we see each other.
