Yes wait for DH, good option!

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 05/08/2014 19:38

You could ... erm ... paint your nails to match it whilst you wait for DH?

Does it smell? I had a crab in my fishtank and it died one day, but I only realised when I noticed it had been in the same place for about a week. Fished it out and it STANK, so definitely dead

catgirl1976 · 05/08/2014 20:12

Poor thing! Pick it up and put it in the tank!

Iknowthings · 05/08/2014 21:56

Ask the neighbour. We had escaping terrapins as kids and my mum would ask the neighbour/ passing person to help if my dad wasn't there. They went to a zoo in the end.

Dontgotosleep · 05/08/2014 21:59

A crab????.

lunar1 · 05/08/2014 22:01

Hope it doesn't climb out and get you in the night, I'd wedge the door shut If I were you.

WaywardOn3 · 05/08/2014 23:08

There used to be a huge crab living in the wc at a beach front bar while I was in Mauritius. You'd sit on the loo and out he jumped from behind it to sit on your feet :-o

Moved him back to the beach but out he jumped from behind the loo the next night!

Practically spent every night at that bar lol

SomethingVicardThisWayComes · 05/08/2014 23:12

im confused.

why do you have a crab in a tank in the first place?

VitoCorleone · 05/08/2014 23:15

I'm confused too! Do you have crabs as pets and ones escaped? If so, why?? And how?

Or does your DP work in the crabbing business?

Confused
GrandadGrumps · 05/08/2014 23:18

why do you have a crab in a tank in the first place?

'Cos it would die if she kept it in the cupboard?

500smiles · 05/08/2014 23:19

OP did you ever get to the bottom of why it was in your cupboard?

lettertoherms · 05/08/2014 23:21

"Mr. Nextdoor, my husband is out, could you come help me sort out this crab in my cupboard?"

Grin
SomethingVicardThisWayComes · 05/08/2014 23:24

oh now i feel guilt.....ive just remembered a time when i went with my cousin to the beach - we collected a whole jar full of crabs and her parents let her take them home.....to a rather cramped and unpleasant death i should imagine.

poor things. i was horrified even then.....but she was spoilt and got what she wanted.

free the crabby 1 i say. (hoping i dont come back as a crab.....)

FiloFunky · 06/08/2014 07:25

Soooooo

It's a red clawed crab. It usually lives in DPs tropical aquarium. It occasionally believes it's Houdini though on this occasion was actually quite safe and sound in the tank BlushBlush

It was merely it's shell that it had shed and was drying out in the cupboard under the aquarium BlushBlush

deakymom · 06/08/2014 07:36

lettertoherms · 06/08/2014 07:46

FuckyNell · 06/08/2014 07:49

R4roger · 06/08/2014 07:50

ha ha

R4roger · 06/08/2014 07:50

who put the shell in the cupboard? your dh?
and they shed their shells Shock

GerundTheBehemoth · 06/08/2014 07:58

I'm glad the crab's OK Grin.

Crabs, like other arthropods, grow by successive moulting. They come out all soft and squishy (ie soft-shell crab) and then expand to a new, bigger size before the shell hardens up again. a vid of a crab moulting. Time lapse - nothing much happens til 0:50.

CuriosityCola · 06/08/2014 08:04

I think that video is going to give me nightmares. Smile

PedantMarina · 06/08/2014 08:07

That. Was. So. Cool!!!!!;

SilentCharisma · 06/08/2014 14:01

That video was amazing!

Although it horrified the Admin Team, to whom I sent the link after they saw me looking agog at my screen.
