... especially in this heat! It's so handy if you want to prevent sweaty chafing! Grin I used to always put it on after shaving armpits etc to prevent horrible heat rash.
So went to get some and it's disappeared from the shops. When did that happen? ?. I guess they only stock it for grannies at Christmas now?
And while we're at it - can anyone recommend an anti perspirant that does what it says on the tin?? I bought a men's one for mysefl to try and cope with this heat - no good. I have a big underarm problem - not all over, thank goodness - just armpits Blush

I thought baby powder was the only talc available. Confused

Glastogirl · 25/07/2014 22:46

Never knew grown up talc exsisted apart from that horrible smelling red container!

Catypillar · 25/07/2014 22:48

I'd never thought about buying non-baby talc. We use it for getting the sand off us after a trip to the beach.

Oldraver · 25/07/2014 22:50

Once you have used a talc free you want want ordinary stuff or baby powder. I only resort to Johnsons as they do a tiny bottle good for travelling.

I did have a miniture travel talc pot but lost the top so put it in a small press seal bag...which leaked all in my new handbag and didnt really look good when a waft of fine white powder came out with my purse at the school fete

IDismyname · 25/07/2014 22:50

I got a container of talc from Boots. It's brill. It's L'Aimant by Coty. Smells really comforting and old fashioned.

thenightsky · 25/07/2014 22:54

talc is essential for sprinkling in shoes you want to wear with bare feet at work this hot weather.

polyhymnia · 25/07/2014 22:58

Neals Yard still do a nice lavender and tea tree one.

polyhymnia · 25/07/2014 23:00

By the way, does anyone have anything that stops or reduces facial sweating in this weather .

Iownathreeinchferrari · 25/07/2014 23:02

Number 7 beautifully matt for facial sweating

Fluffyears · 25/07/2014 23:07

I second driclor. I stop sweating for weeks if I use it. Mitchum is also really good I use the solid stick version and use two 'layers' one straight after drying off after shower then add another application for good measure.

kali110 · 25/07/2014 23:20

Love talc, especially in this weather!

mswibble · 25/07/2014 23:22

I use the red Imperial Leather and its lovely in this heat.

DevonCiderPunk · 25/07/2014 23:28

Talc counteracts sweat?!

How did I get to 40 not knowing this..?

I'd just buy baby talc, my tub dates from when my teenagers were babies. These days I mainly use it when waxing my eyebrows.

bumbleymummy · 25/07/2014 23:36

Wasn't talc linked to an increased risk of ovarian cancer?

Bert's bees do a lovely talc free powder. I love the smell of it.

2rebecca · 25/07/2014 23:37

Best not squirt it up your fanjo then!

Treasures · 25/07/2014 23:39

I sweat all over as it's a side effect of my medication. It's hideous. Talc does absolutely nothing for me, nice to put on after a shower but definitely doesn't help with the sweating at all. If it works for you lot then I'm highly envious.

YourMaNoBraBackOfMyCar · 25/07/2014 23:40

I use medipure body powder (big lasses best friend) and Nivea pure talc which you can get for £1 and it lasts ages. Lloyds do it as part of their 6 items for a fiver promo if anyone wants to stock up.

Capitola · 25/07/2014 23:43

I second Driclor.

I use it about 2x a year when I feel my deodorant isn't quite doing its job and it is bloody marvelous stuff.

McFox · 25/07/2014 23:45

Yes to Mitchum.

You can make your own talc really easily, that's what I do. Just mix cornflour with ground down chamomile flowers (passed through a sieve) with any essential oils you like. I tend to use lavender. Really easy and it works brilliantly.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/07/2014 23:49

I like the Lush ones, they come in small bottles for travel, swimming etc. I use Johnson's for getting sand off feet at the beach and getting greasy marks out of clothes.

The ovarian cancer thing has never been proven, the risk negligible, I read something to that effect on the Cancer Research website. here

mswibble · 25/07/2014 23:50

It doesn't help with excessive sweat at all but for all the normal bits its lovely and cooling. I 6sed my Imperial Leather today, wrapped my towel round as I slid my slap onto my face. By the time I got dressed I had 2 crescent moons under my boobs. :(

Selks · 26/07/2014 00:03

Talc is essential for me with my meno-related night sweats in this heat. I would stick to the bed sheets otherwise. Johnsons' baby powder is my choice, doesn't smell of anything much and is silky smooth.

Interesting to read the link you posted WhoKnows; thanks. I must admit I had never heard about a possible link with ovarian cancer. But I don't put it on my bits anyway.

Socksarecosy · 26/07/2014 00:39

You can get it in boots and home bargains and places thar sell baby stuff
