back story- we went to GOSH today with DD1 for her JIA appointment. I took day off and took both dds as DH had job interview. so after doctors we went for lunch.

we went to Brunswick and ate at Giraffe. DDs went and ran around. then we left after about 2 mins I asked DD2 where were her "doodoos" its a Roo from tescos. she panicked so she ran back.
she met a girl about 6/8 who had 1 on her scooter. DD2 and 1 asked can we have it back about 30s before I got there she said no. I told her it was my DD2s toy so we got it back. I asked her where the other one was and she said her brother had it in the closest shop. we all went in and found it.I asked him where he found it as we has lost it. his mum said "we'll finders keepers"
I felt like going ape shit. but said my DD2 had dropped/ briefly left it and I'm sorry but you can't just steal toys! especially as both children had tied the toy to their scooters like a toy on a lorry!
my DD2 is in a crying melt down as these toys are really important to her and even eBay has no replacements.
I'm sorry but it was within minutes. they a grubby toys. maybe I was frazzled but my Dd1 has to take chemo drugs now for the next 2 years and I was just told.
but AIBU to think you don't steal toys you put them to one side in case someone has dropped / forgotten them??

You buggars have ruined my eye make up...sitting here sobbing! Please let us know how DD reacts when Doodoo comes in the post!

Ronmione · 25/07/2014 20:47

Is it's about the size Of your hand, and roo from Winnie the Pooh???

Ronmione · 25/07/2014 20:48

If it is I think I have one your welcome too it if I can find it,

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 25/07/2014 20:50

What an utter bitch, I'd go totally insane if someone decided to take my DD's toys, kids can be forgetful, it does not give you a the right to take the toy and then refuse to give it back.

Maybe if her kids scooters were stolen she have a different view.

NK5BM3 · 25/07/2014 20:51

Oh that's horrid!! I don't know the roo but I know GOSH and the rheumatology dept v well and that particular giraffe branch too (ds who is 6 is now in remission with SJIA but his appointments were also on Fridays!).

Methotrexate isn't funny but I hope it will help. He was on it since he was 4. Weekly methotrexate and folic acid. He took it for a year. They stopped it when he didn't have symptoms for close to a year. Good luck. Pm me if you want a chat. Thanks

NK5BM3 · 25/07/2014 20:52

And hurrah for lillicat. Smile

abouttobeevicted · 25/07/2014 21:07

Finders Keeper mum, you're an utter utter bitch.

NK5BM3 · 25/07/2014 21:14

Evicted - please do.

Steroids worked to a certain point but he never ever got the normal ESR
And CRP readings on his blood so they switched to methotrexate and it's worked a treat. Like I said he's in remission now. Thank God. Thanks

MrsKoala · 25/07/2014 21:26

finders keepers? Confused FINDERS KEEPERS? FIND.ERS.FUCK.ING.KEEP.ERS?!! what the fuck piss poor collection of words is that from a grown woman's lips? I am so angry on your behalf. I think i may have called the police non emergency number in front of her and explained everything and possibly warned them an assault may be imminent if my property wasn't returned

So glad lillicat has got what you need and i'm so sorry your DD is poorly.

What an utter twat tho. Really. finders keepers????

I haven't heard anything so truly disgusting in a while. Your poor child. lillicat you are amazing.

Koothrapanties · 25/07/2014 22:20

Calm yourself Mrskoala, you have too much on your plate as it is! Hope you and babykoala are ok.

Op this has been playing on my mind. I really hope karma bites this woman on the arse. I feel sad for her kids actually, they are going to grow up into nasty pieces of work if they believe everything is theirs for the taking.

Littleroobe · 25/07/2014 23:10

I know lilicat is sending one but is this it so you have another spare?

HaroldLloyd · 25/07/2014 23:14

Buggermeovaries · 25/07/2014 23:16

Buggermeovaries · 25/07/2014 23:17

A girl helped herself to DDs favourite towel at centre parks while they were chatting and changing next to each other. DD1 is dyslexic and scatty.

Girls mother claimed it was an accident when I spotted it in her bag, but it was rolled very neatly plain white side out Hmm

Sending your DD all the best with her treatment.

ChasedByBees · 25/07/2014 23:26

Wow, that is unbelievable. How could she?

Jut for the record, it was not your fault. Finders keepers is actually theft (theft by fiding I believe). I would have taken it back.

ICanSeeTheSun · 25/07/2014 23:33

Finders keepers is something you do with a tub of sweets/chocolates ( well in my family)

A toy is not finders keepers, what a vile and utter bitch to keep a toy.

abouttobeevicted · 25/07/2014 23:52

What a fucking bitch Shock

If I see a toy/teddy on the street I will leave it there incase someone comes back for it. If I find one in a shop/restaurant/any kind of premises I will hand it in to a staff member. I would never take it home especially not when a child has recognised it as their own.

Again what a fucking bitch.

Glad u will be getting a replacement. Mumsnet at its best Smile
