Aibu to expect the dh to do the ironing?

I'm 38weeks pregnant. I am freaking melting! Also suffering with horrific pelvic pain.

I do most of the housework and child care. Hubs does work bloody hard too. But I keep staring at the ever growing pile of ironing and feeling rage that he hasn't done it! I've not asked outright but I've dropped very obvious hints ('that ironing really needs doing, but I'm just too hot'). In my opinion NOT ironing is not an option, both hubs and I hate looking scruffy and we certainly wouldn't let the smalls.

I think you will have to just ask! Men don't pick up on hints really. I left an empty toilet roll in the middle of the floor in the bathroom to see what would happen to it... Still there two weeks later!

Ask him. But be prepared to find out that it doesn't bother him as much as it does you.

I don't even know where my iron is I think DD might have had it for ironing a top yesterday.

I iron as little as humanly possible.

By the way. You say you would never let the smalls - I have never ironed my smalls in my life. (Smalls is underwear, right?)

my ironing has just been collected by a nice man in a van and will be bought back by same nice man on Friday - I can really recommend it!

I would ask about 'the DH' as a taat point proving thing but if you're 38 weeks pg then I won't :)

YABU to iron anything except formal wear in the first place!

Ask him, also have a look through the pile- I bet there's lots of stuff in there that doesn't need doing as well.

Dropping hints and failing to address the issue directly doesn't sound at all helpful or productive to me. YABU in failing to assert yourself.

All that gets ironed here (usually by me on a Sunday afternoon, while she watches some bloody thing on the box which I can't stand) is my shirts and DW's blouses. And one or two pairs of her trousers which she insists on doing herself.

When you said you felt too hot to do the ironing, he probably thought the same! 28 degrees or whatever is too hot for anyone to iron, pregnant or not.

'Hey DH let's split the upcoming tasks. I'll go through labour and give birth and then not sleep properly for 18 months, you do that pile of ironing.'

I'm not an obsessive ironer, hubs is worse than me for hating crumpled clothes. We only iron work/school things and certain other pieces. Normally I'm happy to get on and do it, can't justify paying someone, although these are exceptional circumstances!

Have now asked outright, nicely too! The response I got was a huff and he went for a shower... Not quite sure if that was a begrudging yes or a no...

Maybe I'll give Terry a call...
