to think that if a company makes an appointment to attend your house at 9am they do not turn up at 7.50am

And then act blasé when you open the door dishevelled having just finished feeding the baby and point out to them that they are over an hour early?!

The appointment was booked for 9 deliberately so I had time to get myself showered and dressed after dd's morning feed before they arrived. I wouldn't mind if he had apologised but the arse just shrugged his shoulders.

Wibu yo complain when I ring their office later to pay?!

NYWNBU, you booked 9am for a reason- what if you werent up? or you had to go out, school run or whatever?

Over an hour early is ridiculous!

That's outrageous. No company should come before 8 am and they should come on time. I wouldn't have let them in/ start whatever they were meant to do. Reduce the amount you pay?

No point complaining if you actually let him in! I'd have made him sit in the car til, say, 8.30, which would have been a bit of a compromise.

Still, whatever you've had done is probably done by now, or getting done, and you'll have the rest of the morning free of him.

I think turning up an hour and a half early (without ringing to check if it's ok) is as bad as being an hour and a half late.

I'd have turned him away i'm afraid.

He's fitting a tow bar to dp's car, actually it's a good job we swapped cars last night or it wouldn't be here cos dp isn't home from work yet.

Their office doesn't open til 9 so can't do much til then

Couldn't turn him away as it then would get done and if my car doesn't pass mot tomorrow we would have to cancel holiday

If it's not convenient, send him away. You booked a time for a reason.

I've done this before with online shopping. If I book a slot for after 7pm when the DC are in bed, I don't want to be dealing with it at 6.30 in the midst of bedtime.

However, if you didn't say anything to the person who turned up, I think it's a bit off to complain retrospectively to their office.

I did say to him he wasn't meant to be here til 9, expecting him to offer to come back.

Have rung their office who were equally pathetic and said "I didn't expect it to be a problem if we turned up early most people complain we are late" ffs customer service is non existent. Will not be recommending them that's for sure

I can't see why this is a problem - I would be delighted! I work FT so appointments at 9am (or anytime thereafter) really screw up my day.

I really don't think the mechanic fitting a tow bar on a car is going to give two hoots about your looks Hmm. It's not like it's an appointment to get professional pictures taken.

Prima that really isn't the point. I arranged the appointment for 9am 10-15 mons early is acceptable. Turning up over am hour early and prior to 8am is not. Especially with such an attitude, but then having been met with the same attitude from the office I am not in the least surprised

Haha, I was about to say bet it was BT! They've been the only people to do this to me, and I was rather annoyed and said so.

Technically this is not right, but usually when you book an appointment they don't come for ages and keep you waiting until the very end of the slot, so I think you got the better side of the coin this time.

Would have been worse if you were on the school run or something and missed him completely.

Haha the BT bloke did it to me too when we moved in but was very gracious as I was in the midst of feeding and he buggered of to the local McDonald's and came back at the agreed time. Even brought be a coke back! Lovely chap so emailed BT and told them how lovely he had been.

If the guy had just apologised for being early and offered to come back I would have just said ok and let him get on with it. It's the fact he was so non-plused and blasé and just said nothing and shrugged his shoulders that pissed me off more I think.

Maggie - that was my point to the office. Dp works nights and the car wouldn't normally be here at 750am!! It was just fluke that I needed it (mine is off the road) sohe took his 4x4 last nnight.

I'm wondering what would have happened if you just hadn't answered the door? Supposing it was you on the night shift and not home yet, no one else there?

He would have had to have sat outside or driven off elsewhere and come back. I'm guessing he does this to get an early finish to his day.

I think it's less of a problem because he isn't coming in to the house but it is too early.

It is embarrassing answering the door like that, happened to me recently I thought it was going to be a delivery so rushed to the door only to find a new neighbour in a suit asking me a question about trees. Didn't even have the baby n my arms so god knows what he thought of the state of me.

Could easily have still been sleeping, not appropriate to wake people up and then expect them to carry out a business-type conversation!
How strange that being early is viewed as a positive (not talking ten minutes obviously)

Yet another case of a company expecting everything to be on their terms and for the customer to just fit in around them and be grateful! Customer service and attitudes towards customers in the UK is shit!
