Now I understand this may seem a crazy as fuq thread but I am being genuinely serious.

I have started a new job working in a childrens home. It as large family home with long hall ways. On my first day there when coming out of the toilet I saw something out the corner of my eye which I THOUGHT went into a bedroom. Now I could have just been scaring myself but it was definately something I noticed. The house just had a strange presence.

Now last night It was my first night shift. I felt like something was watching me and I kept hearing bangs and creaks. One of the young people who was there said to me that she felt freaked out by the house also.

A file of papers fell on the floor in another room and he did the ultimate no-no and went investigating. (Hasn't he seen horror films).

I was literally crapping myself and did not even go to the toilet. I said to my co worker that if I see a ghost I will leave the house.

He then went onto tell me that I am being unreasonble but in other children's homes he has worked out staff members have spoke about the same thing that I said but his explanation is that so many children who come to childrens homes have experience traumatic negative things and that this energy can attach itself.

Now this freaked me out even more and now I am worried about working tonight. Grin

You are going to have to just not allow yourself to be freaked out.

Distract yourself all the time, and don't give any freaky thoughts headspace.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 22/07/2014 14:30

He went investigating , I assume he returned and all was well?

mommy2ash · 22/07/2014 14:30

personally I do believe in such things but there is an equal chance you have already associated the building as something creepy and your mind is playing tricks on you.

londonrach · 22/07/2014 14:31

Right stock up on garlic, crosses and what ever do don't go on your own to investigate anything and keep mn on tonight to report back..

NecesitoDormir · 22/07/2014 14:31

I wouldn't be freaked out as I generally don't get scared or nervous by this sort of thing. Why wouldn't you go to the toilet? You don't want to get an infection!

gamerchick · 22/07/2014 14:32

The house will get used to you, it's just curious. Just ignore or say hello and it'll pass.

FreekedOut · 22/07/2014 14:34

Yes he returned lol.

And say hello to what!!

I didnt go toilet as I was scared. I know this sounds ridiculous.

Have you had unmarried underage sex? If not, you're fine. It's always the 'bad kids' that get bumped off first. Oh, and never split up. Always go everywhere in pairs.

FreekedOut · 22/07/2014 14:37

I think I am what you would class as a bad kid then lol.

It's a new job in a big house.

Unless you are going to start looking for another job, tell yourself all will be well and it's a friendly house.

That's all I've got.

I'm not dismissing your fears, I have a nervous disposition too.

HayDayQueen · 22/07/2014 14:38

Sound travels weirdly through old houses - simple.

In our old house we used to hear foot steps of someone walking down the corridor, which was central in the house, but there wouldn't be anyone there. The foot steps were very distinctive, but often sounded like they were made by different people at different times - and they were! They were echoes of our (detached) next door neighbours, the houses were built in such a way that the sound of their footsteps travelled out of their house and into ours, even though there was a few metres between them.

SaucyJack · 22/07/2014 14:43

I also have an over-active imagination- but I think working somewhere like that you have to be a bit more bloody professional about it.

Stop acting like a kid at a Hallowe'en party. Your job is to make the kids feel happy and safe- not scaring the shit out of them.

ScrambledSmegs · 22/07/2014 14:47

Are you blonde? If you are you may want to dye your hair red or brunette, it increases your chances of survival Wink

raffle · 22/07/2014 14:54

When you say you discussed this with 'one of the young people' I really hope you don't mean one of the children that live there?

I think you need to stop acting so unprofessionally and keep your creepy feelings to yourself. Mentioning them to a co-worker is very odd. Discussing them with one of the children you are there to care for is unprofessional and could cause problems. Avoiding areas is not reasonable - you need to go to the loo, and if it's the same one the children use you definitely need to go in there sometimes.

I don't want to sound horrible but if I were the manager I'd think twice about having you back again. The last thing they need is someone stirring up the children with fearfullness, and spreading daft gossip/opinions on the supernatural among staff.

ThatWasNice · 22/07/2014 17:05

I agree that you sound very unprofessional and silly. I hope you don't let any of the children know that you believe in this type of nonsense.

gordyslovesheep · 22/07/2014 17:07

assuming you are an adult and in charge of vulnerable kids maybe try to calm down a bit - unless this is a wind up

ghosts, ghost's, spooks and 'energies' don't actually exist

FurryDogMother · 22/07/2014 17:08

You're winding yourself up. None of this stuff is real, you know. Just do your job and stop imagining things.

Cocolepew · 22/07/2014 17:08

Dont go anywhere in your underwear .

Be brave Smile

LastTango · 22/07/2014 17:16
