To do a degree. I don't have one, have always wanted one. Grin
I'm 35, have 5 children currently working as a bank admin in the voluntary sector.

DH will be redundant in September so I thought it's the perfect time to think of ME for a change (not really, more of our future)

BUT? Is it to late for this year? My closest uni is Sheffield and I have left it too late to apply normally and would have to go through the clearing process.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

I agree with what Chicken said. You know you can do it and that's what you need to get across to the tutor.

The organizational, time managing etc skills you have gained in running a large household and through your employment are really good assets to have when studying for a degree.

I am 53 and one year into a criminology/psychology degree. The last time I did any formal education was 35 years ago and the degree I am doing is completely new to me.

I'm loving it! Hope you get the course that you want!

Kappa, if you sound like you know what the course entails, and you have a realistic expectation of workload and how your interests match the course, then you should sound very appealing. Do you have the entry requires from A level/similar? Good luck!

Call - thanks for that. Yes I've got a few level 3 qualifications, some other study plus some work experience in the field I'm looking at. So fingers crossed Grin

Nothing definite yet although i think i'll have to do A levels rather than an access course. There seems to be fewer options for that locally though so i need to ring my local colleges And i need to speak with my lone parent advisor once i've found the course to see how it will affect my finances.

Go for it. Seriously. Students with a bit of life experience bring so much more with them and get so much more out of it.
