To think the singing in Frozen is terrible

Ok so it's great film, good story my kids love it BUT whoever they picked to sing are flipin aweful. Screechy, nasel twang and shouty. Such a shame as the songs are (as we all know) are really good. Next time you hear the songs close your eyes and actually listen to the voices.... ouch!

I don't like dani lavetos version at all. Over sung, too many uuuuu breaths and moany bits

I also find it to be super shouty and superficial, as if she were singing just with her throat instead of the whole lungs.

I don't care if she sings in Broadway, I don't care if I am no musician, I hear my ears and I don't need to be an expert to know that the singing is terrible! How can someone actually think otherwise? Are they deaf or just impressed by the lyrics, the narrative or the singers' credentials?

Well it's probably the most watched song on YouTube maybe ever. Little girls everywhere love to belt it out. It isn't a pretty little song , girls feel strong and powerful stamping their foot and letting their hair free. It tapped into something huge and I think the shoutyness of it was a big part of that. Like a modern day " I will survive" or something.

And you are wrong. Idina Menzel is amazing.

I agree that Elsa's voice is yawpy and unpleasant, until this thread I didn't realise Idina Menzel was famous, don't like her voice at all.

I don't mind the singer that plays Anna though.

The songs in Frozen are very good though, much better than most films. It would make a good west end show (which I suppose is inevitable)
