My God. My absolute God. 3 goals in 2 minutes from Germany.

It was like a moment from a ludicrous game of FIFA against my drunk younger brother.

A team composed of English gentlemen wouldn't Wink

PacificDogwood · 08/07/2014 22:59

I think Germany were trying for double figures...

MoJangled · 08/07/2014 22:59

Apparently England beat Germany 5:1 about 10 years ago (DH's pub quiz brain). Not in a world cup match in front of a sobbing, booing crowd though Wink

AndHarry · 08/07/2014 23:00

Klose-fest ahoy!

rootypig · 08/07/2014 23:00

We didn't stop at 3 in 2001 Pacific!

I said at work today that germany would wipe the floor with brazil.
They deserve it,well done germany.

AndHarry · 08/07/2014 23:02

We did. I went on a school trip through Germany soon after with our coach adorned with an England flag with 5-1 in foot-high characters. Our school not being composed of Rnglish gentlemen Hmm

Hard to believe, I know, but I don't actually care much about football and was watching the game because my boys were while MNing and playing HayDay

Somebody want to bring up 1966? I can take it Grin

rootypig · 08/07/2014 23:10

A whole programme on Alan Hansen!!

rachel234 · 08/07/2014 23:14

Well done Germany!!

AwesomeSuperTasty · 08/07/2014 23:23

Now this was a game worth staying up for.

My German DH is so happy that he's even considering putting up his German flag. Only considering, mind.

Calypoppy · 08/07/2014 23:30

Do you think they've been paid off to lose?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 08/07/2014 23:32

You know Germany don't see playing England as much of a deal. Now being beaten by the Dutch would hurt!

Feel sorry for the Brazilian goalie - terrible defence

German Dh had to get on a long haul flight at half time. I've never heard him so excited! Ds won't believe me when I tell him the score in the morning!

Zimtschnecke · 08/07/2014 23:32

Cal, you must be kidding.

BumpAndGrind · 08/07/2014 23:33

Don't say such things calypoppy Sad I wasn't them to be humiliated and sad. because I'm a little sadistic

MoJangled · 08/07/2014 23:33

Don't think there's enough money in Brazil to pay them to do that Caly !

wellnowthenmardybum · 08/07/2014 23:37

I can't stop laughing at the pp who said they shouldn't have scored all the goals to have sportsmanship Grin

Verycold · 08/07/2014 23:39

Wouldn't it have been more humiliating for Brazil to know that Germany stopped trying to score out of pity?

MoJangled · 08/07/2014 23:46

Germany scored 2 more goals in that match than England did in their last 2 world cup campaigns combined.

Are they being greedy? Have they got all our goals?

BumpAndGrind · 08/07/2014 23:48

I would have thought that to stop trying out of pity wasn't very sportsman like.

WorraLiberty · 08/07/2014 23:49

Agree. The gentlemanly thing to do would have been to stop at 3

Fuck me. Can you imagine the riots if Germany stopped at 3 and Brazil came back with 4 goals before the final whistle? Grin Grin

Or would they have stopped at 3 as well and then dithered about on the pitch, wringing their hands and not knowing what to do next?

wowfudge · 08/07/2014 23:54

I had to stop watching when it got to 5-0 and the Brazilians were shell-shocked. Painful.

Work will be interesting tomorrow - there's a Brazilian and a German in my department!

Wetthemogwai · 08/07/2014 23:55

I think it was VERY ungentlemaly to get so arsey when Brazil got their goal. As if it would've scratched the surface the unsportsmanly German bastards!

I'd have put money on a Brazil v holland final, that's showed me eh! :p

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 08/07/2014 23:58

They were arsey with themselves for conceding the goal. The defence wanted a clean sheet

If only the England team showed the same attitude

AndHarry · 09/07/2014 00:00

Ok so my comment was slightly tongue in cheek. The sportsmanlike thing would have been to stop scoring but use all that amazing skill to make it seem like they were trying really hard to score: shots hitting the post, straight to keeper, just wide etc. Now that would have been skill!
