Not to know what whether or not my car has alloy wheels

Just been told off by the Green Flag operator because I didn't know if my Mini had standard or alloy wheelsBlush Apparently ( he said ) that as I hold a driving licence I should know ALL about my car!!!! Interested to know how many ladies out there know what a alloy wheel is. My lovely car mechanic has told me that I am the proud owner of four alloy wheels!

And I'm annoyed that my audis don't come with a spare wheel. If income out to a puncture in the morning I either have to call the AA or somehow go buy a new one. Apparently audi would rather you would call breakdown than risk changing it yourself....

McBear · 04/07/2014 23:07

I thought you just had to pay extra when the car is originally purchased to get the spare? Optional extra as it were

Nicknacky · 04/07/2014 23:10

With some audis they are built with no space for a spare, and to do so left no space in the boot. (I'm trying to remember if it was the A1 or A3 I had the issue with. My dad works for audi and I get a new one every few months)

WMittens

I'm not going to reply substantively to your post because really, I think there is no point.

I don't mean to be condescending, but I genuinely feel a little sorry for you given your last post. I sincerely hope that your RL interactions are better judged.

McBear · 05/07/2014 08:40

Nick, aren't they under the car if no room in the boot? I'm talking old school tho. I think new cars use run flats?

Nicknacky · 05/07/2014 08:46

I don't know about other makes, certainly some cars I used to have were under the car. Some audis have a spare wheel under the boot, my h has an A7 and that's where his is. Maybe it's the smaller models that don't have them.

I've only had one car with run flats, would never have another as they are so expensive to replace!! I get a new car every six months, none have run flats.

McBear · 05/07/2014 11:15

What do I have to do to get a new car every six months????

Ok, being massively sexist now... Perhaps they don't put spares on the small 'feminine' cars because stereotypically, women can't change tyres?

Nicknacky · 05/07/2014 21:16

Have a dad that works for Audi lol!! It can be a pain, I forget what I'm driving sometimes!

I don't think it's anything to do with the sex of the driver, plenty of men drive smaller cars like the A1.

McBear · 06/07/2014 10:03

They do but stereotypically smaller cars are for women.

ComposHat · 06/07/2014 11:17

Or probably the need to save weight and space is greater on a small car.

McBear · 06/07/2014 11:25

Maybe but if they are under the chassis they do not take much/any space. In a way, the same if in a boot. They don't take up useable space.

The weight seems plausible but are they that heavy?

ComposHat · 06/07/2014 11:38

Apparently it is to do with weight and co2 targets. I'm on my phone a d can't link

Nicknacky · 06/07/2014 11:43

I assume there must be a reason for them being no longer underneath the cars.

McBear · 06/07/2014 11:47

To link on a phone put and around the link. Grin

Does no one put them undera cars now? Only car I had with it underneath was an s reg ka. It was bright purple.
