Boo hoo your children won't get the latest games consoles while you spend all your time with them but you don't you prat about with your mates getting drunk. While me and my partner work all hours we can to pay the bills we cannot afford the dog (that you have) the new games consoles the holidays and in a few month we won't be able to afford the rent, or the heating.

Aibu to wantt a better life than the those one the dole when I work for everything I have?

The holiday to Cuba was being paid for by his parents, he was sponging off them

Fideliney · 30/06/2014 23:08

I'm a bit worried about you OP and what you think 'a better life' involves.

Fatallyshy · 30/06/2014 23:10

Spending time with ds without being so tired after work that I am physically sick and unable to play with him.

To wit "Benefit-mum Hayley leaves her benefit-house to walk benefit-dog Scrounger".

Grin Thanks, that cheered me right up, Fideliney

SylvaniansKeepGettingHoovered · 30/06/2014 23:11

OP did you see inside their kitchen cupboards? The 60 yr old man had a choice of soup, soup, soup or soup. Except on Thursday nights when he treated himself to half a frozen pizza.

SylvaniansKeepGettingHoovered · 30/06/2014 23:12

Then get to bed OP

Smelsa · 30/06/2014 23:12

So go on benefits then, fatally! If it sounds so dreamy, pop on down to the job centre and sign on.

cozietoesie · 30/06/2014 23:13

.....representative examples wouldn't make very exciting telly.....

That's the clue. These programmes are there to make money/prestige/ratings for their producers. 'Reality TV' is manipulated and selected in order to do this. Don't believe more than the colour of the sky in the shots - and take even that with a pinch of salt.

HonoraryOctonaut · 30/06/2014 23:18

I don't watch it as I find it quite depressing.

I was approached once about being on one of these sorts of TV shows (I must look the type Shock) by a lady canvassing in the street. I suppose I would make good tv (single mother on benefits with 3 children and heavily pregnant at the time).

I don't have a benefit-dog though. I might complain to the council or something.

Fideliney · 30/06/2014 23:18

OP sitting around depressed wondering how long until you get evicted or how to eek out the £7 per day you have to live in looks pretty exhausting too TBF. I hope things improve for you though.

Fatallyshy · 30/06/2014 23:19

Maybe I should redefine them as caricatures

OP posts:
Fideliney · 30/06/2014 23:21

YW LadyGlen Grin Scrounger might be interesting to yell in the park, no? Hmm

TucsonGirl · 30/06/2014 23:22

Why do people watch these programmes? The people that make them are scum and the people that appear on them are scum. There are millions of better things you could be doing with your life.

Fideliney · 30/06/2014 23:23

Maybe I should redefine them as caricatures

Yes. And there's a lot of bravado and face-saving on these things. They are tragedies really.

D0oinMeCleanin · 30/06/2014 23:24

You get holidays on benefits?!

Where's me holiday? I'm waiting. And me benefits dog, can I request a staffy? I'm not bothered about the goat, it might eat my washing.

Fideliney · 30/06/2014 23:25

All benefits dogs are staffies D0oin.

HonoraryOctonaut · 30/06/2014 23:27

I'm going Majorca with my 4 boys

bigdog888 · 30/06/2014 23:30

YANBU and you can expect more of this if the filthy Labour cunts get in next May.

D0oinMeCleanin · 30/06/2014 23:30

I've just put one out of curiosity.

15 kids?! Shock

Imagine the washing? She deserves benefits just for that Grin

Fideliney · 30/06/2014 23:32

If you never look Tucson, you don't know what media portrayals are out there. I have worked in relevant areas. I'm interested. I did try to boycott Benefits Street on Channel 4 but cracked after a fortnight's worth of newspaper coverage.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 30/06/2014 23:40

It's about time this was discussed on MN.

Been ignored far too long IMHO.

Anniegetyourgun · 30/06/2014 23:42

Perhaps they're afraid to or too busy feeding the goat
