Tbh it really does depend on where in Wales you go Gwynedd is a big area if your staying on a villagy type area such as Porthmadog/Pwllheli/Criccieth you will have bugger all choice. If your near somewhere bigger and more town centre like place (like Bangor for example) You have more of a chance but still bugger all choice really

Id just do sports direct before you go. Almost garanteed to be cheaper too as pp have said.

Ooh I'd love a nice little holiday to Wales now!

squoosh · 27/06/2014 13:32

I want to go to pretty Pembrokeshire. If someone could arrange that I'd be most grateful. I'm happy to be barefoot.

Owllady · 27/06/2014 13:34

He doesn't need anymore trainers :) anyway. He is so hard done to
I can't wait to see the mountains

x2boys · 27/06/2014 14:13

WellWhoKnew · 27/06/2014 17:12

Owllady · 27/06/2014 18:44

We walked past a group of men in harlech last year and said son said, 'what language are those men speaking, it sounds foreign?'

:o

Oh I really want to go now. The older I get the more I want to be in the Lynn peninsula

Or thereabouts Blush
The tv is better too. I love all the Welsh docu stuff (in English) there was a brilliant one on Phillip Pullman when we were there last year

MikeLitoris · 27/06/2014 18:48

Just let the poor boyo have a pair of daps mun!

hellymelly · 27/06/2014 18:58

I am in pretty Pembrokeshire . I am wearing daps right now. But later I will take them off as I will ON THE BEACH. Grin. Daps are easy to buy in wales, especially black ones. And the sort of massive green wellies that cost £5.99 in the famer's co-op. That covers most footwear needs we find. Anyway our feet are so wide that nothing else fits us.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 27/06/2014 19:03

I'm not in Pembrokeshire. I think we all have hooves round these parts.

The question is not whose coat is this jacket? It is whose daps are these trainers?

We shall make him some, from finest sheepskin!

hellymelly · 27/06/2014 19:08

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse- that is my favourite name on mumsnet. Ever.
Are you in Brecon?
I think we should weave him some lovely daps out of soft silky wool. Maybe they could have a sheepskin sole? Coal encrusted for grip? Tidy like.

drudgetrudy · 27/06/2014 19:15

Translation:
Are you coming to North Wales? Poor you! There are no trainers in Gwynedd.I know there are no trainers, I live here.

She's almost right unless you go to Bangor or Caernarfon, and they are quite rare there.
There are Sports Directs but small!

If you like here its LLandudno, Chester or t'internet

drudgetrudy · 27/06/2014 19:16

OOps LIVE here

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 27/06/2014 19:19

Why thank you helly :)

Mid Wales, me, where we are neither Gogs nor Valleys and wild animals clean my kitchen whilst I sing.

WashingFanatic · 27/06/2014 19:19

He's right.

All that's here is the mountains, the caves we live in and lots of grass. And a few sheep.

KeepCalmAndLOLKittens · 27/06/2014 19:25

Really. But anything you need before you come. The only thing you can reliably buy here is Dragon Butter.

KeepCalmAndLOLKittens · 27/06/2014 19:26

*Buy

Owllady · 27/06/2014 19:40

I will have you all know I am a feltmaker
Which I know is unusual for someone from the west Midlands Blush I should felt him some trainers

And I said felt, not felch

OP posts:
OpiesOldLady · 27/06/2014 19:48

Felch and dragon butter in the same thread? I feel somewhat queasy.

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 27/06/2014 20:20

Good luck finding anything in Gwynedd. Back of beyond ay it Wink

may have moved from West Midlands to the Gwynedd coast as a child

If you're going to be near Bangor or Pwllheli, you may be ok. If it's Barmouth/Tywyn way, good luck Grin

Owllady · 27/06/2014 20:26

It's the latter
Of course :o

We have lived 'down south' for the last decade. Or so. When we went last year my husband bumped into someone he used yo go to school with

Who thought our children were 'dead posh' Blush

Anyway, my daughter can't cope unless she goes on the tallylyn railway
