Aw fuck. What's the point if you're not going to interact with your 'friends'?

And yet they have always read your latest post Hmm

ssd · 26/06/2014 18:33

theres an awful lot of why do you care op? going on here

are a lot of you here the types who post about their dinners/how tired they are/what they had for lunch prolific fb posters then?

sure sounds like it

Possibly. Some do update constantly about the fairly mundane. But I still don't 'get' Facebook so am not the best to comment. I recently set everybody to important updates only so do miss quite a bit.

tethersend · 26/06/2014 18:41

Hmm. Posting about people posting about their dinners is... Umm...

MyFairyKing · 26/06/2014 18:51

But ssd you are posting about people posting about their dinners. Grin I don't use FB much most because I'm fugly and hate photos of myself but I can see why people do.

MyFairyKing · 26/06/2014 18:51

Clearly I need to read before I post! ^^

Outflewtheweb · 26/06/2014 18:52

Some folks do go a bit over the top, though - telling the world how much you love your 'hubby' isn't really interesting to anyone else.

FB does bring out the self absorbed side of some people but then that's probably what they're like in real life, too.

ssd · 26/06/2014 18:53

true fairyking, maybe I'm as bad as them!!

anyway, do you all want to know how much I love my hubby and what I've just ate Grin

Bloody phone!

I do think some of my friends are addicted in maybe quite an unhealthy way.

ikeaismylocal · 26/06/2014 19:10

I post regularly on Facebook, I don't lead a very interesting life, I am a sahm to a toddler.

I have friends who are doing amazing things in far flungplaces, I don't think you need to be leading an interesting life to post on facebook.

I live in a different country and I find Facebook helps to create the feeling of a more everyday relationship, I'm not going to phone my mum up and tell her ds has learnt to jump or that we went to the zoo but she can see on facebook the little things we do, the same for all my family.

Shockers · 26/06/2014 19:13

I post daily if I've done anything I'd like to remember. Fb is my diary.

I don't post anything negative, political or rude though.

penguinplease · 26/06/2014 20:13

Doesn't matter what people post, hide or delete but slagging them off? Really? why DO you care?
Presumably your life is more exciting than those too dull to entertain you but you sure have time to get annoyed about it and start a thread on here.

Bunbaker · 26/06/2014 20:16

You must lead a fascinating life if you do something very interesting every day to justify posting about it.

I do have a FB account but very rarely post on it because I don't think my daily life is interesting enough for other people to read about it, and I am a private person.

The problem with FB is that it allows a great many self absorbed people to live their life in the public domain, and these people are the ones who give FB a bad name.

Cooroo · 26/06/2014 20:24

penguinplease everything you've said was spot on.

I post mostly about thoughts or ideas that occur to me, usually light-hearted or controversial and enjoy the debate that starts. If someone posts a pic of their dinner I'll probably scroll past because I'm not interested. If they posted about taking a shout I'd unfairness them. Unless it was a very witty post of course!

Cooroo · 26/06/2014 20:25

That was shit not shout!

Cooroo · 26/06/2014 20:26

Oh bollocks, it was unfriend too. Mumsnet fail. Early bed!

Mmeh · 26/06/2014 20:27

Agree with Bunbaker.

I don't think the rate of FB updates has anything to do with how busy or fulfilling one's life is, more that it is an indicator of how inflated somebody's assumption is that others give a shit!

Mmeh · 26/06/2014 20:27

Grin Cooroo

ssd · 26/06/2014 22:03

bunbaker has it spot on

its not just that a lot of the posts are boring, its the fact the person posting it thinks anyone gives a monkeys when they go to bed/eat lunch yawn yawn, they must be totally self absorbed to think everyone cares

MyFairyKing · 27/06/2014 10:29

You really need new friends. Wink

Mrsjayy · 27/06/2014 10:50

Glad your not my fb friend the drivel I post would send you to sleep, what would you like to see on facebook

Cuteypatootey · 28/06/2014 03:51

does it really matter?

Delphiniumsblue · 28/06/2014 07:12

I have asked before what people want to see on FB and there was no agreement on anything- every possibility got moaners. Some people just shouldn't be on FB because, as Cutey, says -'does it really matter?'. Scroll on down.
