To think that just under half a molar is perfectly adequate and I don't need to go to the dentist?

Definitely and I don't need a huge filling either !!!

TheMuppetsIsWhereIShouldBe · 23/06/2014 19:31

tbh I'm one of the firm believers that dentist are out to get your teeth lol!

I have to go to the sedation clinic to get a filling...

Smilesandpiles · 23/06/2014 19:32

Sorry. You already know the answer to that question.

Treat yourself to something nice if you can afterwards though so you have something to look forward to after a crap day.

ReeseWithoutHerSpoon · 23/06/2014 19:33

I've been functioning perfectly well with half a wisdom tooth since before Christmas. I'm figuring it's half more than some people ever get so it's fine. and I'm just ignoring the gaping hole and jagged edges.

Disclaimer: I may not be the best person the take advice from as I'd sooner have another EMCS than go to the dentist.

Ponders.......do you think the dentist will give me a morphene drip?

HoneyDragon · 23/06/2014 19:36

Yes my back molar has been as yours was, but another large chunk has gone. There is now just a bit of filling clingy hopefully to the remaining pice of tooth.

No wisdom teeth impacted so they sedated me and took them out.

I absolutely cannot have a needle in my mouth.

I can't. (Literally sometimes as I faint. And apparently they aren't meant to stuff to you when you are unconscious)

Stratter5 · 23/06/2014 19:36

I did the same, ignored my broken molar.

I now have a crown. The rest of the molar eventually shattered as it had no support. The crown was eye wateringly expensive, and the dentist told me I would probably have got away with a big filling, if I'd had it dealt with earlier :(

dawndonnaagain · 23/06/2014 19:36

this may help for a while

Stratter5 · 23/06/2014 19:37

I'm sure the dentist doesn't want to stuff you whilst unconscious, dulling

ReeseWithoutHerSpoon · 23/06/2014 19:37

But stratter5 that would have huuuuuuuuurtttttt.

Smilesandpiles · 23/06/2014 19:37

Come on HoneyDragon.

Get this over with as hard as it is or you'll have to go through worse further down the line. Can you take someone with you?

HoneyDragon · 23/06/2014 19:39

But the BEST time to put the needle in would be when I'm unconscious from fainting. But they won't because I'm not consenting to have it done if if passed out. Stoopid medical laws.

OP posts:
HoneyDragon · 23/06/2014 19:40

Well no, I can't take anyone with me because I'd have to go to the dentist.

I don't want to go to the dentist.

OP posts:
Smilesandpiles · 23/06/2014 19:40

You HAVE to go to the dentist. Sorry but there really isn't a way round this.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 23/06/2014 19:41

Stuff you while unconscious?

I have a young aussie dentist....

i also have a back tooth missing a large chunk of itself

Stratter5 · 23/06/2014 19:43

You HAVE to go.

If you don't get it sorted you will end up with a crown.

And they are considerably less pleasant that a filling. Get your arse in gear, ring the dentist, and GO. FFS I'll come with you if I have to.

HoneyDragon · 23/06/2014 19:44

Dawn I haven't actually got anything left to fill.

When will properly start to hurt? When the filling falls out?

OP posts:
CloverHeart · 23/06/2014 19:45

YANBU. Perfectly adequate....

I've finally registered wit the dentist after half a molar cracked off wile i was in labour with DS nearly 3 years ago

whine Sad

Shop · 23/06/2014 19:45

I had half a molar & ignored it for months. Eye wateringly painful infection suddenly appeared and now I have a big hole where the tooth was :(

HoneyDragon · 23/06/2014 19:46

I can't believe you come back after ages away and then try and make me do stuff I don't want to do you're meeeeeean.

ignores all reasonable kind points made by Stratters

OP posts:
Smilesandpiles · 23/06/2014 19:48

Come on Honey. Please make that call tomorrow and get it seen to.

TheMuppetsIsWhereIShouldBe · 23/06/2014 19:52

HoneyDragon

go and ask to be refereed to the sedation clinic they give you the injection via the cannula in the arm. You have to take someone with you though

Thumbwitch · 23/06/2014 19:57

HAve it pulled out. In fact, tie string round what's left of it and pull it out yourself. You won't notice if it's a back tooth, although chewing might be a little harder and you'll have to watch out for dry socket and so on.

There's not enough left to fill by the sound of it - so it will be a root canal and crown anyway - but if you leave it as it is you stand a good chance of getting an abscess which will bloody HURT like BLAZES and make you want to bang your head off the nearest hard object and you'll STILL need to go and have a root canal and so on (or have the tooth pulled out).

I lost one of my wisdom teeth after having DS1 - it just crumbled in my mouth, I only had 1/3 of the surface tooth left! Shock
Had it pulled out. No dry socket, no problem, just one less tooth to cause me bother in the future.

Get hypnotised by someone who's good at it before you go to the dentist, then they'll be able to do whatever's necessary. And sign a consent first before you pass out so that they can still carry on Grin

I do love your posts Honey - always entertaining!

Stratter5 · 23/06/2014 19:57

Do I have to bully you, Honey? Don't make me unPARD you...

HoneyDragon · 23/06/2014 20:00

But the dentist always hurts and the back teeth are fucked due to dastardly dentist incompetence in the first place. As are the two massive scars in my mouth Sad

I'm not phobic. I'm sensible. It's a bad place for me to go.

And I'm already missing all my wisdoms teeth and four molars. They can't take this one.

What is a crown anyway? It doesn't sound good.
