To think that my daughter doesn't need shoes yet?

My daughter is 11 months old, happily cruising and (sort of) walking with a walker.
Even in the cooler months she pulled socks off and has never had any form of pram shoe or slipper, now it's summer she's barefoot all the time and obviously loves it.
I am BU to want to dry slap everyone that suggests that she NEEDS shoes NOW!
Especially for my Mother who has pointed out every frilly, pink monstrosity she has clapped eyes on and is adamant that she will get her her first pair of shoes (I don't think so mommy dearest!)

I couldn't click your link Mary but a bit like the inch blue ones? They would do it.

We've got several pairs of those Mary, but they're getting wrecked very quickly! We'll only be using the hard-soled shoes for the times we're out and she wants to walk - I'll keep them in my bag most of the time. Everything just seems to be quite gravelly round our way.

DS got shoes when he turned 1 as he started nursery, but he'd been walking for two months by then. We got him soft Clarks first shoes. But generally he was in bare feet, or socks as it was winter.

Both mine walked about 13 months but only inside or on the grass in the garden until about 16 months so didn't get shoes till needed for walking outside on the path. And now at 11 & 13 they still run round in bare feet as much as they can and never wear shoes inside. Shoes are only to protect the sole of the feet on rough ground.

ds walked at 1, got shoes about 3 months later. He was at nursery and they had no problems with toddlers in socks only.

His first shoes were a massive size 5.5. He's now just turned 10 years old and has the same shoe size as me! Dreading next year if he goes to a size 6 and it will be into the adult sizes (and £££'s) for football boots.

DS was about 11 months but this was because it was December and freezing. He only wore them after his snowsuit with feet no longer fit him and the bigger sizes had detachable feet which he would pull off along with his socks.

He's 18 months now and only wears shoes when we go for a walk or when it's cold (not so much at the moment). He spends most of his time taking them off and dropping them, he's been through about 6 pairs in 6 months due to him losing one of most pairs and his feet growing at an astronomical rate. Toddler converse are so cute but lasted about 5 minutes before DS's feet grew out of them!

My DSs are rampant crawlers so wear soft shoes for protection when crawling outside, otherise the tops of the feet get sore. Most of the time DS2 is barefoot at 14m.
DS1 suddenly got the hang of walking at 16m, and started with 16 steps across the room. I had to wait 4 months for him to grow into size 3 for proper shoes.

I don't put shoes on for the sake of it as I can't be bothered to play at putting them back on.

My dd is 10 months and has been walking for about 3 weeks. I have proper shoes for her as now she is om her feet she wants to walk everywhere!

Get them when you want and not before!
