Why is yoghurt advertised as a luxury and exciting food choice for women?

Why? Confused

The last time I got excited about yoghurt I was about 7 and it had a Mr Man on the side of it (black cherry - Mr Messy I think).

Now we've got celebrity women wetting themselves (not literally obvs) over yoghurt in every other advert.

So is it me? IS yoghurt luxurious and just don't realise it?

It implies all women are total cretins.

MooncupGoddess · 20/06/2014 13:13

You've forgotten finding a laundry product that gets the mud stains off your son's pure white football top, Quangle.

CabbagesAndKings · 20/06/2014 13:16

I use a lot of natural yoghurt in smoothies and things. but can't see the point of the little fancy wannabe orgasmic pots. They are gone in two seconds, are disappointing, and they are full of shit. You might as well just have the chocolate ffs

Milmingebag · 20/06/2014 13:31

Yoghurt = thrush treatment.

Eat cream and be happy. Yoghurt is rank shit.

SuperFlyHigh · 20/06/2014 13:32

Thursday - yes she does make a living faking orgasms... but Lewis doesn't seem to mind. Grin

and lets face it, to be kind, she's had her brief moment of fame.

CouldntGiveAMonkeysToss · 20/06/2014 13:32

Completely agree! Yoghurt is being advertised as a fat free low calorie "treat". I presume because all women should always be trying to make themselves as small as possible.
It's full of shite. If I want yoghurt I'll have full fat with berries, if I want chocolate I'll eat fucking chocolate rather than chocolate flavoured shite filled gloop!

Artandco · 20/06/2014 13:32

We use a lot of Greek yogurt in house. There is now dh plus 5 boys in the house. Plus me. Therefore the amount of yogurt male to female ratio is hugely higher for male.

SuperFlyHigh · 20/06/2014 13:33

Thursday - the thing I'm most bothered about is why does Sherzinger not give me the rage yet Myleene does... although seeing Myleene tarting her kids around and then I had the misfortune to look on her bikinis for Littlewoods range BOAK, does that woman love herself or what?!

SmallPress · 20/06/2014 13:33

Milmingebag - I like cream, too! Its just I like slightly sharp tastes, too, so like the sharper yoghurts.

SuperFlyHigh · 20/06/2014 13:35

Pour moi - I prefer full fat stuff.

the diet stuff is packed full of calories.

shall I remind you of Perle De (de) Lait? Pleasure makes you beautiful.... BOAK. and the women in those ads were a right PITA having a mini O over those too. I'm on a roll today!

paulapantsdown · 20/06/2014 13:42

I wish I could have an orgasm everytime I washed my hair and ate a yoghurt like Shitsinger.

Crap, pressed too soon. The above is worth a watch :)

MrsWinnibago · 20/06/2014 13:58

Oh I'm with you OP! I look at the ads and think "Do you think we're IDIOTS!??" it's not sexy or "treaty" it's fucking boring! Dress it up in suspenders and give it a posh outfit and it's still boring.

MrsWinnibago · 20/06/2014 14:01

Lucille Grin

"Yogurt...the default food of women."

"I wear a grey hoodie...I have a masters and then I got married." Grin

greenhill · 20/06/2014 14:28

Yoghurt must be as exciting and luxurious as it is implied to be when advertised, because we must also believe that a bath isn't merely a wash, it is a leisure activity akin to being treated to a spa day Hmm advertisers must think that consumers are idiots.

Katisha · 20/06/2014 14:43

And as for the one where she eats yoghurt IN THE BATH. Well. I don't know if I could cope with the excitement.

limitedperiodonly · 20/06/2014 14:48

I don't know. Sainsbury's used to do own-brand luxury yoghurts that were made with clotted cream or Jersey milk. They were bloody lovely. Especially the rhubarb one. They never used to advertise them though. You had to be in the know.

I think they may have been withdrawn from sale for giving women ideas.

susiedaisy · 20/06/2014 14:51

Shitsinger's herbal essences advert makes me want to throw a brick at the TV.

PaintedLady2014 · 20/06/2014 14:54

I always do an inward snort when I see the Perle De Lait one where all the lady's friends say "What's your secret" and she smirks and says "Ladies!" whilst proffering yoghurt...

I might just have a dirty mind but I always thinks she's inviting them all into some sort of passionate yoghurt orgy...

Roundedbuttocks90 · 20/06/2014 14:57

Arrrrggghhhhh them stupid 'Perle de Lait' adverts make me want to put my TV in a mincer!!

Yoghurts are ok but who am I kidding pass me a fucking mars bar

Quangle · 20/06/2014 14:58

loving smallpress and her disproportionate overreaction. Although actually it's not an overreaction and you are 100% right. Lying bastard misleading yogurt cheats Angry

merrymouse · 20/06/2014 15:01

For thrills, I eat yoghurt with the washing machine on while wearing a sanitary towel.

IfNotNowThenWhen · 20/06/2014 15:03

Manatee and Lucille thanks for cheering me up with those links. I am off to empower myself by picking up my child from school. Go me!
