To think that Peppa Pig is the work of the devil?

Before having kids I assumed that it was a harmless cartoon.

Boy, was I wrong

If it's not bad enough that they look like poorly drawn male genitalia, it's the simple fact that Peppa is a narcissistic psychopath. She bullies her brother and her friends, and has a greatly overinflated sense of her own importance and abilities which is never challenged.

She is rude; never says please or thank you, mocks poor daddy pig and bullies him over his weight. She has lied and broken things - there are NEVER consequences to her poor behaviour. They just all roll about laughing. Lying is not funny!!!

George just needs to be made into sausages.

Mummy stays home and looks after the house whilst daddy works - do me a favour!!!

I don't want my child to think it's ok to have no manners, to be a liar, and to never have any consequences for poor behaviour.

AIBU to ban Peppa Pig from this house??

Granny Murray is utterly bizarre! It might be less confusing if I didn't know that half the time it is physically impossible to walk down B road and then get to B place becuse they are about a 5 hour drive away!

KeepOnPloddingOn · 21/06/2014 07:03

I adore in the night garden! Mac pacca and upstairs daisy are just adorable!

feesh · 21/06/2014 07:07

My friend's DD is a total Peppa Pig addict and she has absorbed so many of Peppa's mannerisms, including the annoying fake over-enthusiastic laugh, it drives me nuts.

KeepOnPloddingOn · 21/06/2014 07:07

squak where Is Me Too based? I thought Glasgow - I studied there- but now I think not. YY to Granny Murray being odd. How is she a Granny? She looks 30.. Hehe

RabbitSaysWoof · 21/06/2014 07:09

Shes a bitch. I've thought it for ages.

There was this one episode on a really hot day where she does this flashey teeth smile thing at Mummy, shes all like 'can I have an ice cream please Mummy?' but in a cuter voice than her normal then when completely permissive Mummy says yes she goes back to a normal voice.

I also fucking hate how she talks to her Dad like she is the adult and hes the kid needing her guidance. Hes a grown man with a job who puts a roof over hes families head ffs.

PlumpPartridge · 21/06/2014 07:12

I HATE the Pig; I find her obnoxious and irritating. There's also an undercurrent of sexism IMO, despite their efforts to balance it out by graciously allowing mummy pig a job.

Mike the Knight is a horrible entitled little shit too!

StoneTheFlamingCrows · 21/06/2014 07:17

It is hilarious how you lot have managed to find sinister undercurrents in Peppa Pig!

I think it is fecking hilarious, and is comedy gold. Any stereotypes are probably there for comedy value I reckon. Love the Mr Bull in a china shop episode. Or the one where one of the grandad's marks in the sand on the desert island every time he thinks of cheese.

StoneTheFlamingCrows · 21/06/2014 07:21

Or the one where mummy pig takes a hot water bottle on holiday. And the way daddy pig thinks he's an expert on everything. It reminds me of my childhood!

It won't remind dd of her childhood as our family dynamics are totally different (I'm the expert on everything thank you very much and I end up travelling light as I am the least organised person in the world!), and I think dd will be most influenced by the way her family really is rather than a cartoon!

I am uneasy about the fact that Mummy Pig is portrayed as the one who really is in charge of everything and Daddy Pig is portrayed as nice but a bit haphazard. I think it plays into the 'But women are so GOOD at these things and men simply can't manage so we'd best leave it all to you lovely capable ladies' camp.

It would be nice to see something Mummy PIg is rubbish at and something DAddy Pig is wonderful at, in the interests of balance!

squak there are many things I can rant about, ranting is just my most favourite thing!!!
I despise Dora too, though for some reason I can tune it out... She's so shouty!! Not sure about the moral message of a young girl just wandering around and doing as she pleases... Hardly safe!! What's the back story, where are her parents?!? Grin
Peppa is utterly vile - so manipulative!! Totally agree with pp re useless daddy pig... If everyone treated mummy pig like a doofus there'd be utter uproar but I am noticing certain double standards and also don't believe that feminism = man bashing
Prepares for flaming... Grin

DON'T DISS DADDY PIG (check out my username and do it again at your peril)

PP is the only kids' programme I can watch without feeling I want to gouge my own eyes with a teaspoon

Eldest has just outgrown it. You wait till they want to watch frickin' Barbie films. Just you wait!!

TheRealAmandaClarke · 21/06/2014 08:06

I do love the pigs. And they have a great life.
Miss rabbit is my favourite (also her nanny plum in ben and holly)
But I feel a bit sorry for Pedro Pony. Hes not as quick as some of them and I think he's picked on a little bit Sad

TheRealAmandaClarke · 21/06/2014 08:08

My main problem is that we watch it on nick jnr. So it have to remember to mute the commercials.

Ithinkwerealonenow · 21/06/2014 08:33

Barbie is utterly verboten strongly discouraged in this house, since the dc described a plot as 'barbie and her friend got into trouble and waited for the boy to come and sort it out'. No thanks.

Arsebadger · 21/06/2014 08:39

The advertisements are just shocking
Girls just want pink and need to focus on being pretty
Boys like cars and dinosaurs
Just vile
Makes me beyond angry
Being a parent has made me more of a feminist!! and my baby is a boy Grin

Yabu
I love peppa pig. It's brilliant. I love it when George can ice skate and pisses peppa off, I also LOVE that episode where mummy pig gets annoyed by mr bull at the fair saying women can't do stuff -brilliant. I like the little fox and wolf references. I love it when miss rabbit sees the queen. Daddy pig getting pulled over on holiday.

'The sea the sky the sea the sky'

MamaLazarou · 21/06/2014 08:55

YANBU - Peppa is a brat and as for Daddy Pig - what a wanker!

LoveSardines · 21/06/2014 08:56

Yabu peppa is fab, particularly episodes with Brian blessed, proper funny. My fave is the one where he's looking after the lighthouse :D

TSSDNCOP · 21/06/2014 09:13

Love it. Love the way the characters speak. Cannot agree that the characters don't have manners. PP just reflects your average 4 yo older child warts and all IMO.

Love the lighthouse episode, the ice skating and the one where they take goodie on the bus "she can't talk, she's a fish", love the Rabbit family and the one where Suzi can whistle.

Love B&H even more. Acorn Day and the one where they go into space and the WOE is wearing a waistcoat like Gene Krantz in Apollo 13 is gold.

ithoughtofitfirst · 21/06/2014 09:14

Absolutely crying at 'why must it be for you?? You horrid piggy'

My son doesn't know it exists because I cant stand channel 5 mamamamamameemeemogofuckyourself

LoveSardines · 21/06/2014 09:18

Yyy to Ben and holly and acorn day and trip to the moon

Great stuff

TheRealAmandaClarke · 21/06/2014 09:54

And the nick jnr gang that sing dance on the links are pretty annoying too.
I wish I didn't need telly.

Arsebadger · 21/06/2014 09:54
