to think that AIBU threads which start "to ask you..." should be banned?

Yes. I'm still on my thread-policing high horse.

But if someone is "asking you", then they are just posting here for traffic.

What's 'unfair' about posting such threads in AIBU? Of course people want responses. There's little point in posting something where others are unlikely to see it.

So what? I've posted things like that here for traffic and have had many great, helpful responses so clearly most people are not bothered by it being "in the wrong place". People have a burning question, they would like to hear responses fairly quickly, does it really matter? If you are pissed off or bored by someone's thread don't read it or don't respond, if enough people feel the same it will soon go away!

KarlWrenbury · 14/06/2014 11:10

they should always be answered with a FUCK OFF

that will stop them

I always want to go onto the BORING threads about a particular school, ( which always smack of libel to me) and say ' oh you know they have a big drug problem there"

In fact I did quite often till one day I realised we were talking about some kind of prep school. Grin

MardyBra · 14/06/2014 11:11

Grin at Karl.

IKR
I might restart

MardyBra · 14/06/2014 11:14

Well it looks as if your thread has had a bump nin. But possibly not the responses you were hoping for.

OP posts:
MardyBra · 14/06/2014 12:22

Yeah! One of my threads has been deleted!

But shouldn't it have been moved though? That's a bit heavy handed isn't it MNHQ?

OP posts:
MardyBra · 14/06/2014 12:23

And no thread deletion message either?

OP posts:
MardyBra · 14/06/2014 12:24

Actually which of the guidelines you linked to am I actually breaking?

OP posts:
MardyBra · 14/06/2014 12:25

Is that grammatical?

OP posts:
MardyBra · 14/06/2014 12:26

Hands off the washing up liquid thread MNHQ! There's some good controversial stuff in there!

OP posts:
Neverknowingly · 14/06/2014 12:26

I quite agree. There was a really annoying and totally inappropriate thread in AIBU the other day asking about new members...

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 14/06/2014 12:35

I am always tempted to reply simply "Yes" on the "AIBU to ask you..?" threads. Or "No" if I'm in a generous mood.

But the "AIBU that my SIL forgot my birthday?" thread titles are like nails on a blackboard.

OwlCapone · 14/06/2014 12:39

Well, you did publicly claim you were going to spam the board. Spamming isn't allowed.

MardyBra · 14/06/2014 12:42

Actually I'm a bit pissed off with the deletion with no explanation. I'd have been happy with a friendly, witty "come on Mardy, stop taking the piss" note. But This feels a but passive-aggressive.

Is this what is was like on NYE when MN lost its sense of irony? anyone from MNHQ care to comment. < self reporting>.

OP posts:
MardyBra · 14/06/2014 12:46

I thought I'd be ok if I made it an Aibu question owl

I am going to reply with 'yes' and 'don't be silly' or 'fuck off' if Karl is here too.

picnicbasketcase · 14/06/2014 13:03

The eating food one is gone Shock

EllenMumsnet · 14/06/2014 13:05

Apologies to Mardybra Flowers, wasn't quite sure what was going on as at our end we were getting reports of silly threads kicking off in AIBU but hadn't quite joined up the dots... Anyhow we do know it is frustrating if things get posted in AIBU that should and could be posted in a specific topic. If you report any you find, we will try to deal with them swiftly.
Hope that's OK Grin.

MardyBra · 14/06/2014 13:09

Hooray! Thanks Ellen. Flowers back. Feeling less mardy now.

As you were everyone.
