To not be sure what farmers wear?

Dd1 is in Year 1 and next week they have to go in dressed as a farmer.... To me, that would be old clothes and wellies. Except that its hot and jeans, wellies and a jumper don't seem appropriate! Any ideas?!

Boiler suit?

I used to work in a agricultural shop, customers general summer garb usually consisted of jeans, t shirt and Welles.

Boiler suit or jeans and shirt. Wellies whatever.

Ok. I'm over thinking this, aren't I? So jeans, t-shirt (ideally sporting animals, maybe!) and wellies may be in order.

Are they looking for the checked shirt & wellies look? T-shirt, jeans & wellies are normal around my way. If it's warm could she wear denim shorts instead?

Shorts and a singlet. No getting round the possibly hot work boots though.....

I guess they were thinking dungarees and checked shirts - probably while planning in deep winter!

Farmer uniform:
any old trousers (jeans, cords, drill, doesn't matter but must be dirty), held up by either an ancient belt or baler twine;
checked shirt or one patterned with that sort of grid design in shades of brown and moss green on a cream ground, possibly out at the elbows or worn through at the collar; rugby shirt also acceptable, but not if it's new;
decrepit pullover out at the elbows (tied around waist if hot);
if not wellies, then a pair of badly-scuffed and down-at-heel loafers or lace-ups;
perhaps a cap.
If you go for the baler twine/string and lots of dirt, you can't go wrong. Failing that, a boiler suit.

Alternatively, dress him up smartly, make him a blue-and-gold badge saying 'Steward' and say he's spending today organising the livestock classes at the local agricultural show.

This is the result of years spent observing my godfather, his sons, and various local landowners. Most of them wear specs. Only some of them really use baler twine. They all scrub up incredibly well.

Ah, just noticed, it's for a DD not a DS.
Same applies, though, for the ones who actually work on the land, rather than having office jobs - they always look immaculate, even if they do know how to explain the problem to the man come to fix the combine.

Farmer here....

In warmish weather I wear old trousers / mucky jeans and tshirt. Wellies or muckboots with steel toecaps (ever since a cow trod on my foot and put me on crutches for a month). If doing anything really mucky - like with slurry or anything proper nasty then I'll wear overalls too.

In winter I'll supplement the above with a jumper and sometimes gloves. I also change to nice insulated neoprene wellies to keep toes warm.

I do conform to the flat cap wearing stereotype though, love my cap!

My dad is a farmer and in summer he wears jeans, a polo shirt, and....wait for it...Crocs!!!!

I told him his dignity was seeping out of those little holes in his shoes but he said, and I quote: "I don't care".

My NDN farmer wears a high viz jacket. I think it's regulations here in Ireland?

DH used to be a farmer. He likes crocs too

He always wore jeans, checked shirt and boots, but I think crocs would be great.

When I worked on a farm I wore knickers and bra under a boiler suit in hot weather, that may not have been in the UK though!

I'd dress her like Mr Bloom. Most of the local farmers wear jeans and t-shirts or sweatshirts, but that's hardly recognisable.

DF used to wear a blue boiler suit and blue hat with a peak. However, a trip to the market meant bunnet (tweed), tweed jacket, green cords (jumbo cord) and brown brogues. Just like everyone else there. I'm always when I go into Joules and see that this appears to be an aspirational look as Sunday best for 4 year old boys!

Wellies, hat with straw stuck inside the brim, checked shirt, grubby trousers and a toy cow should do the job.

OP. Farmers wear the same as normal folk. It just tends to have a few more holes in it, cow shit stains and a variety of washing machine wrecking metal objects or grassy materials in the pockets or attached to it if it is woolly/ fleecy

Well the farmer I know wears combats & a T-shirt.

The young farmers I used to know ventured out in summer in just their denim shorts and willies good times people good times.

Sadly so did some of the old boys.
