Just that really. It's like a big, noisy party, they have a small gazebo thing set up so they are going to likely do this for other matches and they are drinking and literally roaring at the tv which is turned up pretty loud. It's a city street, terraced houses and this is so loud. Match is over and now they are settling in to drink. It's just the first night of the bloody World Cup and if this goes on for the whole month I am going to go round and kill them all - AIBU?

I also love rain at night in the summer BeCool, as my DH says it 'keeps the scum off the streets' Wink. Doesn't stop the noise from neighbours when indoors though.

MintyChops · 13/06/2014 17:15

Frigging, are you in Dublin?

Even if it rains the buggers will have the gazebo to keep the tv dry so it won't make any difference. I think I will call in on the way to collect DS2 from the creche and just ask them nicely to be more considerate about it especially late at night. I'll have a stroke over the next MONTH otherwise....

I'll let you know how loudly they tell me to fuck off.....

Do the remote thing!! Grin

We have a street of these sort behind us. But ours are really rough. It's weird how they've mostly ended up in the same street? The noise they make sometimes sounds bizarre but always loud. They drink all day even midweek. Mind boggles as to how they find the cash? No doubt the sofas will be pulled outside again if it's dry?

Mrsjayy · 13/06/2014 17:21

My young neighbour finished work early then allhis mates rocked up withbeer lots of beer I am going out because they are so loud (grumble moan)

MintyChops · 13/06/2014 17:29

I wish I lived in the middle of a field, far away from other people and their inconsiderate noise. When I win the Euromillions.....

Where do I get the universal remote thing online?

FunkyBoldRibena · 13/06/2014 17:43

I live in a remoteish area. Last night I went out as soon as the footie started to prune a grapevine, and 5 mins later next door neighbour also came out and she read her book. We both said it was the best time as it was so peaceful and quiet.

Won't be for the next few nights as we live near Download and can hear it in the garden. So will be summer pruning the apples to the sounds of Metallica this weekend. Bliss.

MintyChops · 13/06/2014 18:10

Well, I went round and just said I would like to have a chat about the tv in the garden and that the noise had disturbed us all last night. Said I know the World Cup is only every 4 years but that especially with so many late games it just would be awful for us to have that going on.

The guy was really apologetic, said more people than they expected had come round and he did think they would be annoying someone (?!?) but said thank you for letting me know and gave me his mobile number so I can ring him if it disturbs us again. I guess it will happen again then.

Anyway it went better than I expected. I'm glad I managed to be calm and nice about it and not call him a fucking fucker; we'll see what happens tonight....

If there is a breeze towards them from your garden could you have a really stinky and smoky bonfire?
Smoke the bastards out. Grin

CornChips · 13/06/2014 18:19

God. It is midsummers eve on a Tuesday. I was thinking of having a total of 7 people over for a picnic on the lawn, to go home by 10, and was about to post asking if that was inconsiderate to our neighbours.

OP- that would really upset me. I am up by 5 am too usually as I work from home and need to do work before my DC gets up for school.

Glad your neighbour was alright about it.

Andrewofgg · 13/06/2014 18:31

Do you have some up-market highbrow BBC4-type channel that you could keep flicking to?

In fact in England you could flick to Radio 3 which would piss them off even more!

MsVenus · 13/06/2014 18:36

can you call the call the noise control unit/police which ever is applicable?

TheScottishPlay · 13/06/2014 18:44

Sounds gruesome Mintychops. If it's any consolation I do live in the middle of nowhere and am kept awake for a few nights every summer by machinery at harvest time.

zipzap · 13/06/2014 19:18

Could you put a water sprinkler on that got accidently moved by a dc so it caused a bit of localised rain?

Just seen that you have spoken to them and you have the number so maybe this is something to keep if they get worse and don't turn the tv down when asked!

ForalltheSaints · 13/06/2014 19:21

They won't be celebrating after next week when England are out of the tournament. And you know it rains during Wimbledon, which starts the week after.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 13/06/2014 19:26

Get used to it while Engerland remain in the WC.

We are fans and a 4 males here so are probably your nightmare neighbours.

I sympathise for you but love it!

GatoradeMeBitch · 13/06/2014 20:46

It won't last long OP, don't worry!

Here are some England team gifs to cheer you up! www.buzzfeed.com/alanwhite/this-is-how-the-internet-feels-about-englands-world-cup-camp

fluffyraggies · 13/06/2014 20:59

The 'ring me if it happens again' thing would really piss me off! ConfusedAngry

Surely he can work out if it's happening again! It's easy enough for him to spot: It'll be him, outside in his garden, surrounded, by his mates, with his telly, drinking his beer, and hollering with his voice.

ring me ... pah!

''hello!? you're annoying me again!''

AnnaLegovah · 13/06/2014 22:42

Agree fluffy, mum of the noisy lads next door who conveniently vanishes when they have parties said that and gave us her number. Its just a ploy in the hope you wont be brave enough to text or ring. And they dont answer when you do.

Dubjackeen · 13/06/2014 22:56

Or the line I once got, to a polite request to turn down music at 3 a.m. ' I will turn it down FOR YOU'...ah gee, thanks, since it is clearly me that is being a pain...they didn't. Turned it up instead. Dickheads. Glad I'm no longer living near them.

CoolCat2014 · 13/06/2014 23:04

Suddenly really appreciate living in Wales!

BeyondBurma · 13/06/2014 23:11

do you not have noisy bastards people in Wales then CoolCat Grin!

StillFrigginRexManningDay · 14/06/2014 00:11

Minty I am indeed. Does your house face a road and a wall?

MintyChops · 14/06/2014 00:33

Gatorade, love the link, thank you!!
Frigging, no our house faces another house and backs onto the back of other houses (including football neighbours and the neighbours with the dog that they lock out and allow to bark for hours)..... On the Northside.... That ring any bells?

Was pleased with how it went but actually fluffy, you're right, it's not like he wouldn't notice it himself.

OP posts:
StillFrigginRexManningDay · 14/06/2014 01:21

I'm on the northside too, though more city centre and shit neighbour always leaves his rarely walked dog out. My house faces a wall and at the back is a laneway which is at the back of another row of houses that runs parallel. I think I know where you are, did your area get some new shops in last couple of years?

WaitMonkey · 14/06/2014 07:14

Only a month left. Hmm
