I've not yet met anyone (except my OH) who doesn't love this film, but I found it dull, the characters were infuriating/pathetic and it was just too "princessy" for me. AIBU?

DH & I hate it, DD doesn't mind it, DS1 loves it.

it's pish.

Hulababy · 12/06/2014 17:51

I haven't even seen it. Not particularly interested in seeing it tbh.

2y DD saw it when a friend brought it over here and a group of them all watched it together. DD enjoyed it, they all did from what I could gather.

Most of the children in the infant school I work at seem to have seen it and like it, based on the chat.

Ilovehamabeads · 12/06/2014 18:07

Omg I hated Frozen too, almost clawed my eyes out with boredom in the cinema with my DCs. I really didnt like the Elsa character at all and there was FAR too much singing. DCs however, loved it so my time wasnt totally wasted there.

tilliebob · 12/06/2014 18:08

Never watched it and the more people wank on about it I doubt I will do at anytime in the foreseeable future grumpy old woman alert

Thereistoomuchconfusion · 12/06/2014 18:13

I agree with virgolia, I think it is good that neither get married at the end, the whole love is an open door is disney taking the piss out of its self, 'some day my prince will come' etc etc...

Username12345 · 12/06/2014 18:14

I LOVE animated movies but Frozen was rubbish IMO. Also didn't like the lego movie.

I am looking forward to How to Train Your Dragon 2. I liked the first one.

AnnaLegovah · 12/06/2014 18:16

The concept of sisterly love isnt a new one in Disney, look at Lilo and Stitch, that came out 12 years ago. And Brave is about mother/daughter love, Merida doesn't get with anyone.

I thought Anna and Kristoff were a thing at the end? Or was it just a kiss?

And what the hell are the trolls there for? They confused me.

Topaz25 · 12/06/2014 18:17

*I don't like that she "pairs off" to et married so quick then runs off with another man.

Disney needs to stop marrying off leads. People can be happy on their own. Princes don't need wives and vice versa*

Spoilers:

Anna rushes into getting engaged because she's lonely and then the prince turns out not to be who he seemed. I like the way it actually shows that love at first site is a fairytale and it's better to take time to get to know someone.

She doesn't run off with another man, she runs off to help her sister, which her prince is happy to let her do alone because he has his own ulterior motives. Kristoff helps her but their relationship doesn't become romantic till much later, when they have gotten to know each other and the prince has shown his true colours.

None of the leads in this film are married off, Elsa is a strong main character without a love interest and although Anna and Kristoff do share a kiss by the end of the film the focus of the film is on the love between the sisters.

AnnaLegovah · 12/06/2014 18:17

Im looking forward to How to train your dragon 2 aswell username, really liked the first one. Now THAT film had good music.

I really like Frozen and love the music. DH thought it was meh but he loves the music. The DCs (DD and DS) adore it. We regularly bounce around our kitchen dancing and singing to Let it Go the Idina Mendel version not the crappy Demi Lovato single

expatinscotland · 12/06/2014 18:26

I can't watch films like this anymore, but DD2, age 8, watched it once and didn't care for it. She said it was fairy tosh for the clueless, dead people don't come back, ever.

NotYouNaanBread · 12/06/2014 18:36

I like it, although I have maaaaaany problems with it.

I much prefer Despicable Me. Or Spickle-me as my children call it.

I8toys · 12/06/2014 18:39

YANBU - I bought it thinking it would be something like rise of the guardians and it had that funny bit with the snowman and the reindeer - then they start freakin singing. Very girly. My boys will not entertain it.
They like Tangled.

Minnieisthedevilmouse · 12/06/2014 18:41

Let it go.... Let it go

:)

HerRoyalNotness · 12/06/2014 18:43

anna the trolls were the ones that could undo Elsa's accidental magic on her sister. As a small child when they were playing with the snow, and then as an adult she was taken back. They also just happened to be Kristoffs adopted family.

frizzcat · 12/06/2014 18:52

Are we singing on this thread

Well in that case " Everything is awsome, everything is cool when you're part of a team"

AnnaLegovah · 12/06/2014 18:54

Right, so they're there to fill the convenient magic un-doer role.

AnnaLegovah · 12/06/2014 18:56

Sorry posted too soon. Couldn't there just have been one of them then? And why did they adopt Kristoff? Was the reason ever given?

'cute' sidekick overload in this film with them, Sven and Olaf aswell.

WallyBantersJunkBox · 12/06/2014 18:56

I haven't even seen it, but there is so much hype!

I don't think I can bring myself to watch it.

Pocahontas didn't get married off in the end. Perhaps even Disney weren't prepared to rewrite history. That film would've had promise if they hadn't used that nutjob as a voice over for the male lead.

I think I'm the only person on earth who hasn't watched Frozen or Game of Thrones. There are tribes in the Amazon laughing at me....

HerRoyalNotness · 12/06/2014 18:57

NO SINGING

I do enjoy frozen, and my DSs LOVE it. My youngest (3yo) even pronounces their names in the scandi way.

I was a bit bored by the Lego movie actually, can't put my finger on why. Also Malificent I thought was not as good as the hype, there was definitely a lack of dialogue and I was rather bored throughout.

When the Incredibles first came out, I remember I'd been to see it with a friend, and we came out of the cinema, looked at each other and both said, That's the BEST movie I've seen in forever! And it really was. I'm looking forward to the sequel, and Dragons 2!

HerRoyalNotness · 12/06/2014 18:58

They didn't really cover why they adopted him. I only remember from the opening sequence of the ice cutters that he seemed to be an orphan, no idea why or how he met the trolls.......it was quite unexplained.

CannulaNellie · 12/06/2014 19:02

Absolute drivel.

Boring songs, lame characters, crap story.

I like the Princess and the Frog myself.

Didactylos · 12/06/2014 19:03
WallyBantersJunkBox · 12/06/2014 19:06

Oh the Incredibles - I mean it just ticked all the boxes didn't it?

Hysterically funny, and that bit where the missiles are targeted on the plane....I get a lump in my throat just thinking about it.....

Toy Story 3 was the same for me.

Didn't mind Tangled actually.
