To wonder why people leave the house in pj's?

Now I'm not being judgemental, I think people can wear whatever the hell they want, but there is something that's been niggling me.

DD attends a nursery located round the back of the local primary school. On our way there I see all the kids being dropped off and by the time I've got her to the nursery, said goodbye and walked back round to the front of the school I see the stragglers coming in late. It's always the same 5 women and they're always in pj's. However, I have noticed something about the pj's, they always look clean and not slept in, I.e no creases. All 5 of them! Since then I have noticed it in other places too, the women that go to the corner shop and Asda etc in their pj's are the same.

So my question is this, do these women actually go to the effort of changing out of their dirty pj's and put fresh pj's on to leave the house? And if so, WHY?!

Yep, judging by this particular thread some of us have very, very different standards...Hmm

Dontlaugh · 16/06/2014 00:09

What are day clothes?
Clothes that generally accepted as those that are worn during the day.
Not including PJs.
Which are, usually, worn at night.

losingmybelt · 16/06/2014 00:10

I can understand a 'what do I care what others think'.... up to a point,

But what about your own children? Ever thought about asking them how they feel about a mother who can't be bothered to get dressed? Why would somebody want to potentially embarrass their own children just to prove a point.

losingmybelt · 16/06/2014 00:11

Agree with Don'tlaugh - Loungewear is a lot different to pyjamas. I wear loungewear a lot.

HoneyDragon · 16/06/2014 00:11

But if I wear day clothes at night than pjs can be worn in day time.

And if pjs are a common occurrence on the school run, Tesco and in Asda than they MUST be day clothes too.

HoneyDragon · 16/06/2014 00:14

My son looks fondly back on his back to front mother who worked her arse off to help get us where we are now.

Philoslothy · 16/06/2014 00:15

I get why my children might care, not that I wear my pyjamas to the shop ( but the frothing on here makes it tempting) but why do you care about what strangers wear?

Philoslothy · 16/06/2014 00:16

Do many people actually wear pyjamas as pyjamas?

I treat them as loungewear or to do the housework in.

losingmybelt · 16/06/2014 00:17

I'm sure many a mother has thrown a coat on over her pyjamas to give an emergency late (or very early) lift somewhere....
we've ALL done it - (especially when you know you don't have to get out of the car), but to
habitually go shopping or hang out at the school gates in your pj's is
slovenly.

losingmybelt · 16/06/2014 00:18

Why does anybody care about anything?
You care enough to reply.

Dontlaugh · 16/06/2014 00:20

Honeydragon,
I get exactly what you are saying, truly. I still don't agree with it.
I work my ass off too. Full-time. For my children. One who is very ill.
I am not a in a job where I can wear pjs or loungewear into work. But even if I were, I still wouldn't.
I love dressing for the day. It is a bit of a treat to pick out what I am wearing the next day.
I do this on weekends too.
It makes me feel good, I value myself, and I get to justify spending on clothes for myself.
What's not to like?!

losingmybelt · 16/06/2014 00:20

I just had a thought.
These pyjama wearing school runner Asda/Tesco shoppers - do they wear slippers or shoes? :)

losingmybelt · 16/06/2014 00:21

I mean, you might as well complete the whole look.
Do it properly.

Mintyy · 16/06/2014 00:22

They generally wear Uggs

mom2twoteens · 16/06/2014 00:23

Going out in PJs. Just yukky.

Yep judgemental.

It takes almost no effort to get changed. Have some personal pride.

losingmybelt · 16/06/2014 00:24

Uggs?
That's cheating.
If you're gonna be a can't be assed to get dressed slob, at least go the whole hog and wear some furry slippers.

HoneyDragon · 16/06/2014 00:24

I don't expect others to do it Grin

But the op asked a specific question and I answered as my job at the time explained my being seen out in clean bed wear ..... I didn't expect the onslaught of people arriving on thread to essentially painstaking claim I am low esteemed scum Confused

Iflyaway · 16/06/2014 00:24

Is this for real?

In this country you would be "exposed" - all that media nowadays! - if spotted out and about in pajamas! or call an ambulance

HoneyDragon · 16/06/2014 00:25

Mintyy, by "they" you mean me Grin

Although I like feeling like a whole new sub species.

Dontlaugh · 16/06/2014 00:27

I so was going to write Uggs...
pipped at the pyjamas post.
As you were.

Mintyy · 16/06/2014 00:27

I don't know Honey ... do you wear Uggs when you shop in your pyjamas?

losingmybelt · 16/06/2014 00:28

Do people still wear Uggs?

Dontlaugh · 16/06/2014 00:28

Honeydragon, you've intrigued me! I've been here since 2005 and thought you were a QC.
Am I wrong?!

Mintyy · 16/06/2014 00:28

Uggs are furry slippers Confused

losingmybelt · 16/06/2014 00:30

ok.
