I need your ideas!
I only have around 10 to spend on my dad and my dp. Both of them are working away so a day out is going to be put on hold. Does anyone have any ideas? Theyre both lovely and wish I could spend more but have just started a new job and had to pay crazy money for car repairs :(
Any help appreciated!

1gglePiggle · 09/06/2014 21:58

Same here, will watch with interest!

jeanmiguelfangio · 09/06/2014 22:04

How about a hamper of their favourite things? Like biscuits, sweets they love, maybe drink that kind of thing. Looks great, shows a lot of thought but doesnt cost the earth?

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 09/06/2014 22:05

So far ive bought my dad a pair of Bazinga socks. Thats it.

I really am stumped.

WorraLiberty · 09/06/2014 22:06

How old are your kids? Have you asked them what they want to buy/make their Dad?

Re your own Dad. Do you have a family snapshot from your childhood, with you and him in it?

That might be nice in a frame.

rumplestilt · 09/06/2014 22:08

keyrings?

honeybeeridiculous · 09/06/2014 22:10

My DF loves sweets. Iv got a cheap wicker basket from pound land and filled it with bags of his favourite sweets . looks really colourful and doesn't cost the earth.
he doesn't 'need' anything but enjoys a treat.

£10 amazon voucher or iTunes ?

MagicSwirlinShip · 09/06/2014 22:19

Aldi had some world cup t-shirts last week. They were a fiver and not bad quality.

wowfudge · 09/06/2014 22:41

Why are you buying your DP a Fathers' Day present? Is it from the DCs?

SantanaLopez · 09/06/2014 22:44

We're having a day out instead of gifts if that's any use.

WorraLiberty · 09/06/2014 22:46

honeybeeridiculous, I did that for my brother's birthday and asked my local florist to cover it in cellophane and put a ribbon/bow on it.

They were only too happy to oblige and charged me about £1.50. It made such a difference Smile

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 09/06/2014 23:53

Wow some dcs are too young to go out and purchase a gift.

believeintheshield · 10/06/2014 08:13

honeybeeridiculous that's an amazing idea. I've been completely out of ideas for DH this year (DS is only 15 months so can't buy/make his own obviously) and that's perfect!

Beastofburden · 10/06/2014 08:21

I get second hand books off abebooks. You can get all sorts for 60p plus postage so £2 altogether.

defineme · 10/06/2014 08:27

Groupon have got a flavourly box of gourmet snacks for£4 - use 2 different email addresses if you want 2.

InspirationFailed · 10/06/2014 08:29

I've got my exH a cake, the local cafe is selling them for £7.50 they are about 6" and nicely iced and decorated. I totally forgot that I had to get my own dad something until I read this thread!!

londonrach · 10/06/2014 08:39

pressies for Father's Day?? you buy nice card and spend the day if you can with your dad or else phone him up. I thought everyone did that? If I bought pressies it be beer and his fav chocolate I think. If you have children I'm sure their dad would prefer hand made drawing or card(depending on age of child), washing up etc something to help their dad

musicalendorphins2 · 10/06/2014 08:50

A plant? A dvd or cd or album?
Make some coupons for free car wash, one home baked pie, massage, cleaning out of garage/shed type of things?

ArcheryAnnie · 10/06/2014 09:02

I've got a nice puncture repair kit (in a retro tin - it's really nicely put together) for ex's bike for DS to give him. Cost just under a tenner, isn't over the top, and is useful.

DS is also doing him a tapestry (a manly, manly tapestry), mainly as a vehicle for me getting DS to learn how to sew (it's working), but it won't be done in time so will have to do for his birthday instead.

BadLad · 10/06/2014 09:06

A sincere phone call to your Dad wishing him a happy fathers' day, and thanking him for all the times he was there for you as a child and an adult will probably be appreciated.

CheshireDing · 10/06/2014 09:13

Last year DD was 18 months so i cut out the letters Daddy from a cereal box, stuck them on the wall and stood her in front of them. Took a picture on my phone and uploaded it to Snapfish. I ordered a picture for his desk at work.
There is a DS too now so still thinking what to get this time !

fifi669 · 10/06/2014 09:19

DP has a 'top dad' t-shirt and massive bar of galaxy. Forgot about a present for my own dad..... Will google

MegaClutterSlut · 10/06/2014 10:08

I've got DH a mug saying 'happy father's day daddy' with several pics of the dc's printed on it and a small box of malteasers :)
