To start a new term at the Chalet School?

Vintagejazz · 06/06/2014 14:23

Happy for this to be moved to Chat if posters agree but thought I'd start it here as this is where we've all been loitering without permission when we should be doing our housework homework.

So welcome to a new term everyone. Cases upstairs to the dormitories, form lists on the notice board. And you'll all be pleased to hear that even though we've moved to a different location, Joey has tracked us - -down moved in next door, so we'll still be seeing too much-- plenty of her Smile

The San Pros? You mean Dr Jem and Dr Jack and suchlike, yes?

I shall be the token vegetarian and refuse to eat Roast Veal on animal welfare grounds, even if it's served with buttery roast potatoes cooked in a mysterious way that only Karen/Marie/etc knows the secret of.

I'm in Green dormy this term, by the way.

Incidentally, I'm rereading Rivals at the moment - there's an awful lot of visiting other people's cubies included. At what point was this outlawed? I'm sure there's a "no visiting" rule for most of the CS books.

Toospotty · 06/06/2014 21:59

Visiting involved speaking in that low voice less likely to disturb than a whisper, didn't it? I am yet to master that; I usually get told to whisper when I try it out.

indigo18 · 06/06/2014 22:01

Haaa at tha San Pros! I'm on the staff - new ruddy cheeked hockey mistress. Can I hide my ipod in my knicker drawer, or will the Prees be raiding it for fancy dress? Who will I be 'rooming' with?

flugella · 06/06/2014 22:13

Which dormy am I in please? I was on my way up the path when Joey stalked me and pounced found me and proceeded to give me all her news. I hope Matey won't be too mad!

lessonsintightropes · 06/06/2014 22:55

Sorry I'm late off the train - Mama had to fly off to Keen-ya with Daddy. I'm expecting to be an ornament of upper IIIB - any space in the dormy? Where's my cubey? Mrs Bettany has already invited me over for scones and tea

shouldbeelsewhere · 06/06/2014 23:26

Tinuviel I'm pretty sure Miss Annersley is doing crochet at the beginning of Bride Leads when she goes to tell them that Bride is going to be head girl this year.

SolidGoldBrass · 06/06/2014 23:31

Before Mother left I did manage to sneak two bottles of sal volatileand a hip-flask full of brandy out of the salon. That will put a stop to anyone having nightmares or sleepwalking after Biddy tells us about banshees.

LittleBearPad · 06/06/2014 23:51

Hi, just arriving. Have been having massively hot baths all hols to warm up from last term. Not looking forward to tomorrow morning. Brrrr

WilsonFrickett · 06/06/2014 23:52

Well I think roast/boiled/fried veal is jolly nice. Sehr ghat, nicht warh? especially when accompanied with the school's own fruit juice. (I mean wtf. It's fruit juice. Even Karen, Madge and the heavenly host can't make to 'special'. Unless they add a splash of schnapps).

Tricycletops · 07/06/2014 03:11

Yawn! I am staying in an hotel on the way back to school and some drunk twats imps of middles have set off the great fire alarms. What larks!

SelectAUserName · 07/06/2014 03:35

Oh no Tricycle, don't they know it rouses the whole village? Clang! Clang!

Mind you, some of the girls seem to be sleeping through the racket. Did Matey do the rounds with warm milk at bedtime, by any chance?

Stokey · 07/06/2014 08:42

I'm a new girl.
Mummy died and Daddy has married again. His new wife has had twins and there is no room for me any more so they have packed me off to Austria.

I'm miffed by having to speak these silly languages and think I'll be a bit of a nitwit for the first term. Some strange woman with hundreds of children has already invited me to have warm milk at her house. I'd rather go and climb one of those mountains.

JoeyMaynardsghost · 07/06/2014 09:16

I'm confused because someone I never heard of inherited most of Argentina and went off for 6 months to claim her inheritance and so won't be Head Girl any more so naturally it goes to A.N.Other Bettany (can you spell nepotism, EBD?)

Can I have some warm milk and I also would like to know when I can unpack my trunk. I have brought a

JoeyMaynardsghost · 07/06/2014 09:17

...book which will meet all my expectations of being boring as heck so I can fall back to sleep easier when I read it on a Sunday morning before 7 am. Sitting up, with my bed jacket on, of course.

SelectAUserName · 07/06/2014 09:23

I say, it's a tophole morning for a walk! We'd better scram though, as my weather wisdom tells me those cloud-coloured clouds spell a storm later. Once round the lake, anyone? Better not take the babes, we can't expect girls of 9 and 10 to walk further than a few feet.

JoeyMaynardsghost · 07/06/2014 09:28

Only once around the lake? Surely we ought to take walk on a narrow mountain path and then someone random will almost fall over the edge resulting in a "popular" character stretching to save her and badly wrenching her back/shoulder and then being rescued by a random walker who happens to be a doctor and then obviously she would then be obliged to marry him as soon as she's of legal age?

hels71 · 07/06/2014 09:32

Surely on this first morning our walk should be much more exciting. If we go down that path there to the Auberge there is a wonderful secret......

JoeyMaynardsghost · 07/06/2014 09:33

jumps up and down with excitement

This is almost as much fun as when we played that party game where we had to find our other shoe!

SelectAUserName · 07/06/2014 10:07

We must remember to wrap up warmly and cross our scarves over our chests, so that we may be mistaken for a group of local bundled-up peasants and then embarrass anyone who makes insulting remarks about our appearance by responding in perfect fluent French/English/German/Italian/Russian/Inuit.

hels71 · 07/06/2014 10:27

And make sure you have a knapsack with delicious sandwiches and milk but please don't try to pack it with anything else such as a camera, whistle, toffees etc or you may end up with a ruined lunch and a mistress will have to share theirs with you.

DeWee · 07/06/2014 10:28

The storm has broken here, so I'm hiding in a goatherd's shed while Miss Wilson boils the milk. She's asking us all for chocolate so she can turn it into cocoa for us. AIBU if I keep a little square to eat myself? I'd rather eat my share than drink it.

hels71 · 07/06/2014 10:34

YABU real chalet girls all share.

JuniperTisane · 07/06/2014 11:04

I can contribute some raw bacon if anyone fancies it?

Gosh my woollen vest that im allergic to is itchy next to my skin. I have a red rash coming up. Perhaps its german measles?...

thebodylovesspring · 07/06/2014 11:44

Top of the morning to ye all. The middles hid me in a shed for days until Jo found me and the guides adopted me.

Despite not setting foot in Ireland for 20 years and being able to speak 3 languages ( I have a gift for them) living with posh girls in Austria, Oxford and Australia I still say 'at all at all' on every possible occasion. Wizard.

I am also gloriously pretty.
