To find swimming abysmal

I just hate it. I hate the floors, I hate the dirty wet loos, I hate the screaming, I hate the long mirrors reflecting your swimming cosied body, I hate the chlorine, I hate the life gaurds all buff and toned and fabulous, i hate the gritty floors, i hate the perves, I hate the snot, I hate the hairy drains, I hate being half naked infront of strangers, I hate the slippiness, I hate all the inconsiderate splashes, I hate the faff, I hate the dry skin and hair it gives me...

But, alas I must go for my dd (who always hates it, but I'm told to encourage her anyway - she is one)

Chlorine kills all nasties otherwise regular swimmers would be constantly bugged up. Wear footwear on flooring and shower.

Besides, with public pools like this one, how can you resist taking your child? :)

Oops. That would be my old Tod pool.

Here is the proper link. Bedford pool

I hate that I have to wear my glasses but hate not being able to see well through the splashes and am scared they are going to fall off.

YANBU.

I hate swimming. The wet hair, soggy feet, clammy clothes, the chlorine.... And I'm a rubbish swimmer too.

It was the happiest day of my life when the DCs were finally old enough to go into the pool by themselves.

CMOTDibbler · 04/06/2014 18:32

Joysmum, my goggles from here have changed swimming totally for me. For 30 years swimming has been a blur for me, and I thought prescription goggles were way too expensive. Then for £25 I can see!

At one it's not important they go swimming, but it is important they get water confidence.

Find a nice warm bsby pool with steps leading down that dd can sit and play on with your own toys so she gets used to the surroundings and has a happy time.

If you hate it, dd will hate it. Let dh take her from now on.

I'm a swimming teacher and teach/coach parent and child classes and the earlier they get used to it, it really does make a difference for when they start 'real' lessons at 3.

Also if you go on holiday, dd can play with dh in the pool while you sip cocktails Grin

I do agree though, some changing rooms are grim!

YANBU. Everything about the whole process is a nightmare. Unless it's in the sea, somewhere warm and beautiful.
