Dd will be 13 this year. She doesn't want a fuss, no party, no special cake etc. This very much goes against the grain for me but it is what she wants, and it's her day.

I'd very much like to pull a few fabulous presents out but am drawing a blank. So, your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to give amazing gift ideas!

Dd has some health issues so can't do much physically (so skydiving vouchers are out), she isn't interested in clothes or make up (so no pampering sessions). She has every gadget imaginable, isn't fussed about music or apps, there are no toys that she likes. She reads a lot but has just bought the A Song of Ice and Fire series so is well stocked. We can't fit any more pets in the house.

I am completely out of ideas and am hoping you fab MumsNetters can help.

I'd ask her for a list of things she'd like and I'd pick from that. Easy way out. Grin

MsJupiter · 02/06/2014 08:50

Does she like theatre or any bands you can get her tickets for?

Pumpkinpositive · 02/06/2014 08:52

Does she like fair grounds?

somedizzywhore1804 · 02/06/2014 08:52

What about something she could use to get into a new hobby? Is she creative? You could get her a really nice watercolour set and paper and a book about painting..... Or a book about how to knit and the materials for that? Sorry if that's really lame, but I would have liked that kind of thing at her age.

Or what about a nice piece of jewellery she can keep.... Potentially something plain if she's not that "girly" but something she can keep like an engraved watch or ring or something?

JonSnowsPout · 02/06/2014 08:54

Young drivers lesson?

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 02/06/2014 08:55

The hobby idea could be good. Maybe jewellery making? I had a set of water soluble ink blocks for my b'day and they're gorgeous for drawing and 'painting' with.

Shewhowines · 02/06/2014 08:57

There are a few tacky 13 mugs, coasters and bits and bobs around. My dd liked those just as I liked the 18 ones in my day.
They don't get that sort of thing normally so it was special.

WeirdCatLady · 02/06/2014 09:00

I've asked her for ideas but she can't think of anything she wants :(

We have oodles of crafty hobby stuff (I'm very crafty), we go to the theatre a lot, she hates loud music. She doesn't wear jewellery, we have loads of DVDs . I don't think she'd like a driving thing.

All great ideas though, she is just really difficult to buy for.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh

She likes medieval swords but my Dad just bought her one. The only thing I can think of would be something Game of Thrones-esque but she has various dragon things and some GoT Tshirts, all the books and is too young to watch the tv show.

Groupon and the like sometimes have offers for a music recording session for a group on friends. They record a song if choice and get a copy each to take home.

WeirdCatLady · 02/06/2014 09:02

Actually, I tell a lie. She DID ask for something......a DireWolf or a Dragon Grin

HecatePropylaea · 02/06/2014 09:02

Maybe there really isn't anything she wants.

What about cash for her savings account? Then if something comes along that she fancies, she can just get it.

JonSnowsPout · 02/06/2014 09:02

Go to Ireland and visit the places GOT was filmed?

Pricey though I should think

WeirdCatLady · 02/06/2014 09:03

She won't even sing in the car.

Sorry to keep being negative :(

You can buy dragon eggs on eBay

WeirdCatLady · 02/06/2014 09:05

She'd like money (wouldn't we all) but she never spends it. She's off to Harry Potter Studio Tour next week and has over £400 saved!

(Bangs head against wall)

OP posts:
WeirdCatLady · 02/06/2014 09:07

I made her a dragon egg (crafty me). I bought her two fab Tshirts last week one said "I'm not a Princess, I'm a Khalessi" and the other said "Keep Calm and Stick them with the Pointy End"

I should have saved them for her bday, but she has so much crap to deal with cos of her health that I like to treat her as much as possible. Hence the problem with finding things for her birthday.

Premium bonds or money in an account for when she needs it in later years (she will be grateful when she's18!).

I have previously taken DD and a few friends to the theatre; and given her money to take a couple if friends to Subway/LCD/McDonald's.

She also likes converses.

CheckpointCharlie · 02/06/2014 09:09

What about these rather expensive bookends or look through this sure! loads of GoT bits!

SnapeAndLily · 02/06/2014 09:10

Job done Grin

CheckpointCharlie · 02/06/2014 09:11

site not sure! (!?)

WeirdCatLady · 02/06/2014 09:11

I'd just like to come up with something that makes her go "Wow, that so cool"

She has so much to deal with, it's not fair on her, and she is such a sweet girl despite all her health problems. I just want to make it special for her. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh (again)

WeirdCatLady · 02/06/2014 09:13

Hehe yup, that Iron throne is on the list of things I'm buying when we win the lottery :)

I like the book ends though :)

So she likes mediaeval swords?

What about a trip to watch a battle re-enaction? They happen all over the country.

Riding lessons?
