To think over enthusiastic use of perfume is selfish and yucky?

Woke up at six with the baby, and when I go downstairs to the kitchen I am met with a wall of fucking heavy duty perfume (mil's). The whole house stinks of it, all the windows are open but the smell stink lingers.
What the hell did she do? Bath in it?
Feeling queazy and eyes and nose running.
Bloody hell what's wrong with people?

Wait, I can smell fil's aftershave mixed into it. They didn't actually shower or anything just poor that stuff all over them.

YANBU. Less is more in the perfume area. And some perfumes make me gag even if just a whiff.

But I have a teenage son that used to do Lynx. Bleurgh.

Especially if it's Thierry Mugler Angel, Chanel No.5 or any scent by Clarins.

DH used to know someone who put Brut down his trousers instead of a shower.

Older people often have a less strong sense of smell than younger people. She probably thinks she is using a normal amount of perfume.

As should Poison. Used to go to college with a girl who was drenched in it. I had to move and sit by an open window.

I even have to take antihistamines if I need to go in Boots or a department store so I have a change of surviving the stinky onslaught.

Lynx is the worst, though. It hurts.

I agree that some perfumes can be way to overbearing. Some actually give me a headache.

I once had a flat mate who I am sure bathed in Angel. Just the hint of it now makes me feel ill.

It's easy to slag of m/fil as they will leave one a few days and that's that. But I am not looking forward to the daily teenage perfume assault in years to come.

I had to ask one of my staff at work to tone down her perfume - it was so strong it have me headache every day. And when I was pg it made me feel sick. So I played my pg card and luckily she never wore it again!
I can still smell it now...yuck!
My mum does this too, she doesn't shower every day but sprays lots of perfume on and it's horrible!

I don't mind a little whiff of something nice smelling when I'm outdoors but indoors it's an assault on my tired senses.

Purple, she I was pregnancy I suffered from hg and visitors at the house were banned from using strong perfume as it made me feel ill. I also hTed it when pil cuddled 1day old dc and left my baby's head smelling of perfume. Even bathing didn't wash the smell away completely.

My MIL's heady scent lingers long after she has stayed in our spare room where she has doused it liberally. DH keeps wondering what the funny smell is in there but won't have it that it's her aftermath.

I know! It's the same here, smell stays for a few weeks. Luckily dh can't stand it either, one of the few things he is not in denial about wrt his dp.

One or the girls in HR showers in her perfume. You can tell when she's been in certain parts of the office or the bathrooms. it makes me cough and stings my eyes.

Estee Lauder's Youth Dew is the one that really gets to me. Someone gave my Mum some once - poor Mum ended up in bed with a migraine for 24 hours the first and last time she wore it.

And the smell of it makes me feel sick too. I once had to leave my desk, and go outside, for 20 minutes when a visiting woman wearing it stayed chatting to a colleague at the next desk. It didn't help that the smell lingered long after she'd left the office.

Maybe boil sone vinegar to get rid of the "smell"

I just don't really 'get' perfume. If you're clean and you've got deoderant on, why do you even need it? I'd rather smell of 'nothing' than a unsavoury-odour-hiding, headache-inducing stink!

Clinique's Happy perfume affects me badly, as does Theirry Muggler's Alien scent. I do love a bit of perfume when used sparingly but some people seem to have a difficult time understanding the difference between a squirt and a drench.
