Going to Disney world in a few months and have a Frozen obsessed 3 year old.

Meeting Anna & Elsa has a 5-7 hour wait!! Unless we pay £68 to book a room in a Disney resort (we got a villa) for one night so we can get a fastpass!

I'm just about to do it... But our friend says its crazy and just don't see them.

WWYD??

ikeaismylocal and others

Yes, some 3y like beaches and collecting shells. Some don't.
Likewise some adults like beach holidays and some don'.
And for some people they can afford to do both, or more than one holiday type.

Each to their own really, but why the need to instantly pull down someone else's holiday plans just because they don't match your own idea of good holiday?

For me - the idea of a fortnight sat on a beach or in an all inclusive hotel would be hell, but other people like it.

PotteringAlong · 31/05/2014 19:31

Hell yes, if you can afford to then just pay!

There are some experiences you can't put a price on. If you can't afford it then you don't do it, if you can then you do. There's a difference between cost and value :)

BlewShews · 31/05/2014 19:39

Will they be at a restaurant? They used to have princesses at an Epcot restaurant so you could just book a table there if it still happens.

curiousgeorgie · 31/05/2014 19:41

They're not at any restaurants. There are princesses at Akershus in Epcot and at Cinderellas Royal Table in the castle so I've booked those to meet some of the others..

And a breakfast with Sofia the First Grin

She is all about Elsa though, we watch Frozen every day Blush

My three year old is Disney obsessed. The trouble is her favourite character changes daily. However if I was sure she wanted to see one particular person and it wasn't a whim id definitely pay the extra £.

Completely agree with Hulababy - why do people always question other people's holiday choices in this way. Apart from anything else a Florida holiday may well encompass loads of things. We are thinking of going next year and will move around the State doing things that appeal to us all, some that DH and I will enjoy much more than DCs and finish at the Magic Kingdom which will blow DD1's mind.

Itsfab · 31/05/2014 19:53

Does your DD know it won't be the Anna?

curiousgeorgie · 31/05/2014 19:55

?? It'll be the real both of them!

OP posts:
Itsfab · 31/05/2014 19:59

Okay Hmm.

Why theBlush face at watching it every day? If you think it is too much, stop it. If not don't be pretend Blush about it.

strawberryangel · 31/05/2014 20:00

Sod it, just do it if you can afford it!

I hate this snobbery about Disney...my kids love funfairs, and theme parks, and schmaltzy Disney films. They like plastic tat, sweets and Katy Perry.
They also like walking in the woods and playing on the beach, bike riding and swimming.

Who the fuck cares? They're happy, I'm happy. Some people need to get over themselves!

Enjoy Anna and Elsa OP, and the rest of your wonderful sounding holiday!

strawberryangel · 31/05/2014 20:01

Did someone piss on your chips at teatime, itsfab ? Cos you seem a bit stroppy.

velvetelvis · 31/05/2014 20:07

I have just done this exact thing earlier today! We go in October and are staying in a villa but I have booked a value resort for 1 night, not just for the fast passes though, Extra Magic Hours and free parking too. I booked through Expedia so got £7 cash back from quid co. So £57 for 1 night but as we would have been paying to park both days we have saved around £20 on that. So really just £37. That's how I'm selling it to my DH anyway!

Itsfab · 31/05/2014 20:40

LOL

EliBraille · 31/05/2014 21:03

As long as it's not going to put a huge dent in your finances, do it. If you going to go on trip like that, might as well have enough time to make the most of it. 5-7 hours is a long time, even longer for a kid?

eatmydust · 31/05/2014 21:05

Pay it. Having spent a nightmare few days queing around Disneyland Paris in the August heat with increasingly irritable DCs, it just isn't worth it. You've paid so much already, there is no point ruining the holiday with queues and upset DCs.

Joolsy · 31/05/2014 21:09

If you're definitely going to see the characters one way or another then I'd pay the extra to stay in the room. No way would I queue that long for anything

ThirteenHorses · 31/05/2014 21:10

The new Disney CGI princesses - Rapunzel, Merida, Anna and Elsa - do NOT translate well to being played by real people. Their features are too cartoonish and unreal, and the actresses at Disney look nothing like them.

My DD was utterly perplexed by Rapunzel, that was when she twigged that none of the characters are real. Pity.

Elsiequadrille · 31/05/2014 21:16

Meeting Frozen characters and breakfast with Princess Sofia! Can't think of anything worse I could waste my money on. But I'd probably do it too as my daughter (inexplicably) loves them both Grin

candycoatedwaterdrops · 31/05/2014 21:16

A toddler won't wait 5 to 7 hours, surely?!

Glad you did it OP as I'm pretty sure it would have bugged you if you hadn't - you'd have spent your holiday wondering if you should have.

Have a great time :-D

curiousgeorgie · 31/05/2014 21:47

She'll turn 4 while there... And my brother went to Florida at that age and remembers it vividly...

Maybe you don't remember being 3 because you didn't go to Disney World Wink
