To NOT wave at my neighbour?

We have a very large front window. Most of the houses on our street do. The sort of window that is basically the same size of the wall. We have lived here for a few years and it is an unwritten rule that neighbours don't look in each others windows. It is just how it is.

Anyway, the woman across the road has lived here for about a year. She is really nosy. My Mum thought I was exaggerating about how nosy she is, until she met her.

So, tonight I was sitting in living room, minding my own business watching tele. And the woman across the road walks past and waves. I didn't wave back. I pretended I didn't see. It feels really intrusive and I don't want her in 'my space'.

I'm nosy and always look in windows as I pass.
But if I make eye contact, I have the decency to look Blush.
I don't wave, ffs.

I don't live in town, and if I'm in town at night, its one of my favourite things to walk along and see in other people's windows and see their decor.

I think this is just the very situation for which net curtains were invented. I hate them myself but I also dislike being in a gold fish bowl.

I don't have them currently as only my kitchen and study have windows facing the street - I get to see plenty of activity !

My dd loved the Little Match Girl when she was smaller.

She used to listen to it over and over, even though she could hardly bear it.

Sorry.Just reminiscing....

As you were........

Oh yes Exit, I bet. I particularly enjoy a good gawp while driving the van....

I don't understand why you don't get net curtains?

I used to live in a house with a large bay window in the main living room, a small front garden (enough to park one car) and then the pavement. I loathe net curtains, so never had any. Whenever I saw someone walking along the pavement having a nose into my house, I waved cheerily at them - they usually went bright red and rushed away....Kept me amused for hours... Grin

The mirror stuff is brilliant. Lose no light, but she can't see in. She will get the hint. I'd HATE that.

We live in a terrace house with a bow window facing the street, and also facing up a street going directly up a hill in front of us, and we have no nets.

Sometimes when I come home, down the hill and it's dark, and no one has thought to close the curtains, you can literally see what everyone in the house is doing, all brightly lit up. We call it being on T.V.!!
