I think he's terrible! DH loves him and I think he's shocking. I LOVE good folk and any good singer but he's so overrated!

I want thumb nipples!

RhondaJean · 25/05/2014 22:27

The boy with Thr Arab strap is about aiden from Arab Strap isn't it?

SirChenjin · 25/05/2014 22:29

Tangerine - you can tell her that my ex-neighbour used to date Ed Sheeran, which means that she now knows someone (well, kinda...) who knows someone who dated the Ginger Whinger Grin

Joysmum · 25/05/2014 23:18

We saw him play live at Camp Bestival before he was hugely successful and A Team had been released.

It was just him, a loop pedal and his guitar. He was the best thing there despite many not knowing who he was.

turdfairynomore · 25/05/2014 23:26

Ed sheeran. That's his name. I can see his face but the only name that comes us Ned sherrin. And I'm old enough to know that he's a totally different person!!!

KellyHopter · 25/05/2014 23:32

He's utterly insipid.
Crumbling like pastries is the most jarring lyric I've ever heard.

Tangerinefairy · 25/05/2014 23:38

Oh I say SirChenjin! I will tell her that. I actually like him, I love the simplicity of his act, and love it when he plays on a bill with other artists that have TONS of back up and he is there with just him and his guitar. I like all kinds of music but there is nothing like just one emotive voice and an acoustic guitar.

Celestria · 25/05/2014 23:46

Love ed sheeran particularly I see fire at the moment Smile

Glastokitty · 26/05/2014 07:12

He gives me the rage. I hate all those drippy bedwetting singers. I actually have to turn the radio off when he comes on. He's nearly as bad as bastarding Coldplay!

sallysparrow157 · 26/05/2014 07:20

Crumbling like pastries is a bit of a shitty lyric, but 'they say I'm up and coming like I'm fucking in an elevator' always makes me smile! And I love the video for drunk where his cat takes him out clubbing...

BitchPeas · 26/05/2014 07:24

Oh I love him!! Can't wait to see him at Glastonbury.

No song can make me sob like small bump can.

AmberNectarine · 26/05/2014 07:25

I have mixed feelings about him. I like his new one with Pharrell and You need me but not all his dreary shite like the A team or Lego house.

He's not yet achieved full bedwetter status for me. That is reserved for the likes of the fat-faced wanker from Keane.

KatieKaye · 26/05/2014 07:41

I didn't mind ES until I heard him ruin West Coast of Clare by Planxty. He managed to turn a classic, evocative and poignant song into a boring dirge.

Eve · 26/05/2014 08:07

His sister is a long term mumsnetters!

You may not like him, but he's still someone son or brother.

SirChenjin · 26/05/2014 08:10

No, it's not that I don't like him - I've never met the man - I don't like his music. Which is fair enough, and I'm sure his sister doesn't expect everyone to love her brother's music.

KatieKaye · 26/05/2014 08:14

I'm perfectly entitled to think he ruined a wonderful song regardless of whether or not his sister is on MN. I'm sure she comes across many people who adore her brother's music, many who are totally indifferent to it and many who don't like it. because that is life. We are allowed to have different tastes.

And surely everyone is someone's son/daughter/sister/brother?

littlewhitebag · 26/05/2014 08:16

You know who is a whiney old moaner?

Chris Martin, that's who.

Moany, whiney, dirgey singing.

Ed Sheerin is positively upbeat compared to CM!

LottieJenkins · 26/05/2014 08:16

I have seen him coming out of the garden of a house near me. He is friends with the young guy who lives there and before he was famous sung at the wedding reception of same friend's Mum!
He is making plans to buy Framlingham Police Station and turn it into a Youth Centre which is something the town definately needs.

Lemiserableoldgimmer · 26/05/2014 08:19

I love Ed Sheeran for one reason: because Ds, who is 8, likes him a lot and sings along to his songs in a really committed way, with headphones on. So sweet!

RiojaHaze · 26/05/2014 08:19

I like him, I think young people who write and perform themselves like he does are great role models - famous and rich without the need to remove clothes or sleep with lots of people.

Saying that, isn't Sing about Ellie Goulding?

VivaLeBeaver · 26/05/2014 08:27

He's a pop singer not a folk singer. I love stuff like Johnny Flynn and Laura Marling but some of Eds songs are ok.

A friend got a VIP backstage pass for one of his gigs and said he was lovely. Trotted into the after show party on his own carrying his own guitar and queued up at the bar to get a drink. They got loads of photos with him and said he was nice.

hippoesque · 26/05/2014 08:41

Nope he's amazing. He's the best live act I've ever seen as well!! No playing shit no one has ever heard of to self promote and definitely knows how to read his crowd. Even the slower songs went down well as it's his delivery that's the best part of him.

MrsWinnibago · 26/05/2014 09:18

I'm sure he's a lovely, lovely guy...he does come over as such. And the Youth Centre sounds an amazing project for someone so young to think of and get into....but still...his music is meh.
