I think he's terrible! DH loves him and I think he's shocking. I LOVE good folk and any good singer but he's so overrated!

Whiney shitey Passenger

Cocolepew · 25/05/2014 21:57

Oops Blush

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 25/05/2014 21:58

bah, he's dull imo.

AlexReidsLonelyBraincell · 25/05/2014 22:01

I think Passenger were specially designed just to churn out songs for bilge like the Vampire Diaries et al. They'd have featured heavily on. The Dawson's Crack (intentional typo) if they had been around then. Grin

MrsWinnibago · 25/05/2014 22:02

Vamp He IS dull! Dull is the right word for him!

You caaaaaah Coco - you're going straight to hell for that

AlexReidsLonelyBraincell · 25/05/2014 22:03

I heard about Small Bump on here and had a look/listen to see what the fuss was about. Nice enough song but a bit underwhelming really. I think I'm too old or something.
Give me some Belle and Sebastian for a nice uplifting bit of folksy pop.

'Give me some Belle and Sebastian for a nice uplifting bit of folksy pop.'

Oh no, they're so tooth rottingly twee.

MrsWinnibago · 25/05/2014 22:05

Alex Ooh Belle and Sebastian! Yes!

I don't know where the 'The' came from, unintentional, next to the intentional. . Can't type straight. :)

MrsWinnibago · 25/05/2014 22:07

Squoosh they are not!

OP posts:
squoosh · 25/05/2014 22:08

For a bit of folkiness I'm fond of a bit of Johnny Flynn

I could only listen to B&S if I was running through a summer meadow catching butterflies in a net. And I don't ten to do that too often.

MrsWinnibago · 25/05/2014 22:10

"You were laid on your back with the boy from the Arab Strap"

Hardly twee! THe boy from the Arab Strap was a lad in a band who slept with his gf.

Not twee! It's Pretty sounding cos' it's a nice opposition to the lyrics.

OP posts:
MrsWinnibago · 25/05/2014 22:11

Squoosh ooh you're being deliberately rude! Grin The songs of B and B are often really dark!

OP posts:
squoosh · 25/05/2014 22:12

I do know though that B&S fans are a loyal bunch. My colleague used to go puce with rage if I dissed them.

MrsWinnibago · 25/05/2014 22:12

Right. Not folk but blues. Try this if you want a real song for real women.

OP posts:
AlexReidsLonelyBraincell · 25/05/2014 22:12

Twee you say? Grin

MrsWinnibago · 25/05/2014 22:13

You MUST hear that song. Grin She was a prostitute and bar singer...one of the most underrated and unrecognized of her generation.

OP posts:
itsbetterthanabox · 25/05/2014 22:14

Ed sheeran isn't folk! What are you saying about?

MrsWinnibago · 25/05/2014 22:14

She wrote about what she knew...in the TWENTIES! Imagine! Hear those lyrics!

OP posts:
squoosh · 25/05/2014 22:17

I'm listening, 'I got something between my legs that'll make a dead man come'.

She's got skillz!

Tangerinefairy · 25/05/2014 22:21

Dd (11) who ought to be in bed wants me to say that she agrees with you OP, in fact she was saying something very similar today. Her friend adores ES and she was trying to think of a way to break it to her that she doesn't feel the same!
