DS has been nagging for years to go, we have sold something's that he no longer wants and have raised enough to go.

Reviews seems to be bad.

I don't want him to be disappointed.

Is it as bad as the reviews going in 2 weeks

we went last year april and august and had a great time thought it was better in april as in august it was very busy

redexpat · 21/05/2014 19:40

Come to the one in Denmark. No one will be disappointed!

I last went in the 90s and it was ok back then. For small children anyway.

HerRoyalNotness · 21/05/2014 19:41

How old is DS? I took my at the time 4yo and he loved it! Took him to the Florida one at 5.5yo and he loved that even more. We're going again in June to the Florida one.

I would say it's for under 10yo though. But even I really enjoyed it, we went to 2 other parks in Florida, and that day was the most fun/enjoyable.

extrasleepneeded · 21/05/2014 19:41

some of the rides had long waits but ds also loved the shows mini land and some of the smaller rides.we did take our own food the second time as the food on park was expensive and rubbish

I would go out of school holidays if you can. Inset day, maybe, if he is at school.

MisForMumNotMaid · 21/05/2014 19:44

We didn't enjoy it very much. Possibly had too high expectations. Went at Easter for two days ended up just going one to Legoland one elsewhere. We have Merlin passes for the year so it wasn't a cost thing.

gordyslovesheep · 21/05/2014 19:44

we went when my eldest 2 where 5 and 9 - they loved it

get a q-bot to avoid the worst waits

only down side was the wasps

superbagpuss · 21/05/2014 19:45

we took my4 year old DT

they loved it, was there from park open to park close and only did half of it

went on a school day - it was before they started school - so queues werent too bad

do take your own food then you can feed DC in queues instead of stopping for lunch

do go to the pirate show - its amazing and very well done

Lurleene · 21/05/2014 19:45

DS loves it but try and go on a day when most other children are at school as the weekend and school holidays are just too busy. We have a mid-term teacher training day coming up and will be going then, but I wouldn't want to go any other day personally.

StuntBottom · 21/05/2014 19:48

We took our DCs several times between the ages of 4 and 11 and they always loved it. Queues for the bigger rides can be a problem so get there early and head for them first. If they're too small for big rides, the train also gets very busy so do that first.

Definitely take your own food. The food at Legoland really lets it down, partly because it's so expensive but also it's not very good.

If you're planning to treat them in the Lego shop, go first thing while it's quiet and you can leave your shopping there. The shops at the entrance get ridiculously busy late in the day.

Sparklingbrook · 21/05/2014 19:51

I last went in 2002. I have no desire to return, and now the DC are 14 and 12 probably not required anyway.

I remember lots of walking and a very expensive gift shop, but I am way out of date. And some sort of parkling swizz re £10 to be nearer the entrance?

I also went to Disneyland in 1990 and am still all Disneyed out from that too. Grin Hope to never return there.

CalamitouslyWrong · 21/05/2014 19:52

If you want to see bad reviews, look at what people say about the Lego discovery centre in Manchester.

FlipFlopWaddle · 21/05/2014 19:55

We've been twice and loved it Grin

First time dd1 was 2 so not in school yet so we went in term time, on a Saturday though, and it was fine - I can only remember one particularly long queue, for the small dragon roller coaster.

We also went last August and stayed in the hotel, which was expensive so a one off treat but worth it. We had QBots and they were worth every penny, I don't think we would have had such a good day otherwise.

ShatnersBassoon · 21/05/2014 19:57

It's good fun. Have you got some of the vouchers that are always on cereal packets etc. to get cheaper entry?

ICanSeeTheSun · 21/05/2014 20:00

He will be 8 going on a weekend, not other time available and DC are in diffrent school. Already booked.

It's not about my enjoyment, but that of DS

The thing is, if you don't take him he'll always feel he's missed out.

FWIW my 2 loved it and want to go again.

noblegiraffe · 21/05/2014 20:03

It's fab, but I'd get qbots if you can afford them.

Wantsunshine · 21/05/2014 20:03

He will love it. Stay late they usually keep some of the rides open later than advertised and there are no queues at all as everyone seems to get there early and leave an hour before the rides stop.

Sparklingbrook · 21/05/2014 20:05

How much are the QBots? How do they work? What happens if loads of people have them? Confused

Floralnomad · 21/05/2014 20:05

When mine were 8 the rides were too young for them but they're both tall and theme park regulars .

sleepwouldbenice · 21/05/2014 20:05

we have enjoyed both times. Grin if your kids are old enough get there early and leave later as queues much shorter. Take own food. use cereal and or tesco vouchers. We survived two days. made it easier to spread out standing in queues and meant kids could do things like go in the splash area for something different. but yes of course if you can go on inset day that would be best. Enjoy

FlipFlopWaddle · 21/05/2014 20:09

QBots are £15 each. You get a little box and choose the ride you want, then it gives you a time to go there. Then instead of queuing you can go and play in a playground, watch a show or do something less busy. There are more expensive options but the cheapest worked fine for us.
