She made a lovely roast beef dinner and then proceeded to not only hold her knife wrong, but also used a spoon. A fucking spoon to shovel it into her mouth.

ugh. took her about 5 minutes to eat the mountains of food as well.

Who decided that?

LineRunner · 12/05/2014 08:56

What?

Littleen · 12/05/2014 09:02

haha you sound like a bit of a dick imho :P she cooks, she can eat however she wants, even if its odd!

softlysoftly · 12/05/2014 09:16

Mardy I also hate lighthearted in titles and mostly absolutely get it but this one just has a tone of viciousness over the top that tips it into nasty not funny.

I think there is a line, I always tend to think of my mum / mil and if they had sat a whole day with me thinking we had a lovely time and then read this how hurt they would feel, its really unkind.

BUT it if worded in a funnier way that could have actually been said to someones face thats different. Its hard to explain but there is funny and nasty and this falls on the latter.

TuckingFablet · 12/05/2014 09:31

How would you word it then? go on, make it sound funny because apparently I am evil Hmm

Nomama · 12/05/2014 11:03

Oh dear!

So coming on a nonnnymous t'interweb chat room has now got to an uber-PC experience has it? No more wandering in to offload a thing that sparked a reaction you can't deal with in Real Life. No more offloading crap here because you need somewhere to spout off.

No. Now the only posters who get to spout off are the holier than thou ones who want to make an OP feel really, really bad cos they badmouthed someone anonymously - irony anyone?

Tucking, consider yourself the evilest of evil things ever eviled!

In fact, you are complete and utter bitch and I shall shun you from now on! Consider yourself beyond the pale, below the salt, sent to Coventry.....

Atbeckandcall · 12/05/2014 11:10

gotthemoononastick · 12/05/2014 11:30

Oh dear..cooked a roast yesterday, ate with napkin tucked in and a spoon due to having a pin put into my middle finger last week.Arthritis and all that.

Did a double take reading the OP as I am a Dmil, but realised that I whined so much about my agonising plight that there could be no doubt as to WHY,thus it couldn't be me!

Also would never ever hold a knife wrong!

TuckingFablet · 12/05/2014 11:31

I know noma. I'm the evilest Sad who knew it was the crime of the century to have a bit of an unserious rant. I obviously kill kittens and puppies in my spare time too...Hmm

Shunning....

itiswhatitiswhatitis · 12/05/2014 11:39

I don't think your evil OP an adult eating with a spoon is weird especially if they don't usually.

softlysoftly · 12/05/2014 12:37

Overdramatic too.

You must be a joy to live with.

MarcusAurelius · 12/05/2014 12:39

I think that it's revolting behaviour and i would have said something, so would dh.

Manners cost nothing.

fromparistoberlin73 · 12/05/2014 12:44

I thought this was a thread taking the piss out of MIL bashing threads

it is one, right?

Thumbcat · 12/05/2014 12:47

YABU to complain about how someone else holds their cutlery. Unless they're flicking food in your direction I can't imagine why you'd notice or care.

MrsRuffdiamond · 12/05/2014 12:50

At least you don't feel like tipping the meal over her head op!

Cerisier · 12/05/2014 12:51

I will go against the grain and say YABU as spoons are fab. I have lived in Asia for ten years and knives are used in the kitchen only here and spoons and forks are used at the table. So practical. I am very tempted to do this in the UK too- and my guests will probably be as shocked as the OP.

TuckingFablet · 12/05/2014 13:03

That is at least four women who will despise me.

Not necessarily MrsDeVere, other than a brief period of time when my MiL was on medication and having a bad reaction to it (we didn't know about the meds at the time but they sent her really nasty) I've always got on with my MiL.

Fear not, there is yet hope Grin

Do you really give a shit what utensils people use to eat their food?
Messy and noisy eaters I can understand being irritated by but holding a knife incorrectly?
Just don't look if it offends you. I have no idea what the "correct" way to hold a knife is and I don't care either.

TequilaMockingbirdy · 12/05/2014 14:28

Well I have to say when I've invited people round I've had to eat from a spoon BECAUSE I DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH FORKS. Maybe this is why?

softlysoftly · 12/05/2014 16:59

I know everlong not just offended professionally so.

I've got a certificate and a diploma and shit. £250 per offence taken honestly its a gravy train!
